It was interesting how much actual war footage was used in this movie. Some of it looked like it came from "Tora! Tora! Tora!" (Especially the plane landing on two wheels segment)
It was surprising to see a very young Erik Estrada in this movie. All I could think was
"Erik...all you have to do is blind the Japanese pilots with the glare from your teeth."
John Williams' score rules....as always.
NIT: One of the scenes shows us a Japanese Internment Camp in Honolulu.
Problem?
There were NO Japanese Internment Camps in Hawaii whatsoever.
Most of them were on the West Coast.
The reason why no one from Japan was arrested in Hawaii after Pearl Harbor was that over 20% of Hawaii's population was Japanese...if those people went to the prison camps..the economy of Hawaii would have collapsed.
There's also the fact the Hawaii was not a U.S.A. state at the time, so the laws voted in Washington would not have applied to it.
That never stopped the government before :P
Another movie titled Midway (I'm not calling it a remake) opens this November 8. The ads show that the new version uses CGI, rather than actual war footage.
