My advice - Stay away from this crashing bore of a cable miniseries. USA Network has been heavily advertising this since mid-winter, so I took a look at it this past Thursday (May 31.) It put me to sleep within an hour of its first two; and I have no idea how many more are to come. Debra Messing plays the wife of some Hollywood hotshot studio exec. She gets dumped after 10 years of marriage and one daughter for a younger woman (what else?) The point of view of this is extremely predictable (the husband just seems like a generic self-absorbed creep.) Peter Jacobsen, who livens the Law & Order episodes he plays defense attorney Stan Dworkin in, plays the callous cad, and he just looks bored here. USA is bumping most of its programming in June 2 for endless replays of this. Unless you need a sleep aid, be elsewhere.
I have never seen a sponsor's name placed so prominently as it is here. "Ponds" has placed its corporate logo in every piece of advertising. The corporate name even appears in the main title of this miniseries, which is why I've included it in the subject line.
I don't know if this series is done, but it doesn't seem to be on USA any more. If you can't sleep at night, you can bore yourself to sleep with the upcoming DVD set. More here.
During the 50s a lot of shows had the sponsor's name in the title.
I don't know if they were better, though.

Unfortunately, The Starter Wife will premiere as a series on USA this fall. At least Peter Jacobsen won't return, as he's busy on House's team. More here.
