Megamind

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Movies: Animation: Non-Disney Films: Megamind
By LUIGI NOVI (Lnovi) on Thursday, November 01, 2007 - 11:51 am:

A superhero send-up from Dreamworks animation about a supervillain who accidentally kills his rival. It'll be produced by Ben Stiller's production company, and is targeted for Fall 2010.

Master Mind is only a working title.

Personally, given how much I loved The Incredibles, I'm hoping this is good too.

This looks like it might be pretty good.

Interesting concept, in that it puts a "Life of Brian" twist on the Superman mythos. The voices are good, the animation and action looks good, and I do like "Highway to Hell".

The very opening is a nitpicker's red meat. From the improbable way baby Metroman appeared at his new parents' home, and baby Megamind's instant jailhouse lifetime. Due to the obvious extraterrestrial appearance of Megamind, he and Minion should've been in the government's custody.

A bearded Metroman discovers Roxanne and Megamind in his schoolhouse and tries to sneak away before he can be discovered, but fails. Why didn't he use that super speed that, by our POV, suspends time? Guess he forgot, gone rusty, his "head wasn't in the game".

I know the citizens of Metrocity were ordered to stay out of downtown, but how long can an invisible car go undetected? Someone or something will eventually collide with it. Pigeon doo, a bicyclist, another car...

Clarification: baby Metroman's parents' behavior when he arrived, and their lack of astonishment at his powers.

What was Megamind's boyhood name before he got evil ambitions? Little Boy Blue?

How is Tighten broadcasting on Channel 2? Sure he's a former TV camerman and he's using his TV camera, but how does he singlehandedly set up a live remote without influencing the station's operators? This is right out of the Joker's playbook: Hijacking the airwaves with little or no effort to explain how he's accomplishing this.
