Hoping I'm not the only person here familiar with the books....
In this day of literary trilogies becoming high-budget movies, this was inevitable.
Anybody hear if the 2009 release is a single movie or three?
Well, you aren't the only person here who's read them, though it's been a while. I remember enjoying them. It's probably been 15-20 years ago that I read them. Time for a re-read, I think
One of the few book series I've read several times, and have a couple different versions of. I still have the tapes of the TV series -- which never actually got finished, btw. Perhaps why I was so grateful to get the books. I got to find out what happened!
I don't think I'd heard about a possible movie before, but I'm quite excited about it. Certainly their effects will be better than the series' were.
These books hold up well on re-reads, even for adults re-reading something they read when they were the intended audience.
Gonna re-read them myself.
Now it's The Tripods (2012) and...*spoilers* *spoilers* *spoilers* *spoilers* *spoilers* *spoilers* *spoilers* *spoilers* *spoilers* *spoilers* *spoilers* *spoilers* *spoilers*
Beanpole's a girl.
Oh, and the movie is just the first book. But whether the second one gets made depends on the success of the first.
So did this movie ever happen?
The only adaptation of The Tripods that I'm aware of is the television adaptation that I saw at the end of the 1980's (I think it was made in New Zealand). And it ended one book short.
Definitely not as I definitely would have seen it by now.
Never happened. I believe the estate has sold the rights multiple times over the decades.
Perhaps the title of this thread should be altered to reflect this fact.
2009 came and went with no Tripods movie.
