A strong cast, but almost a carbon-copy of Cameron's version.
One of the nits is at the end where they noted that: "All attempts to raise the Titanic have failed"
The truth is: there were NO ATTEMPTS to raise the Titanic, especially when they saw it was broken in two pieces...it would have been IMPOSSIBLE to raise it.
At one point in the movie the words that come out of Tim Curry's mouth don't match his lips
Was this the TV movie version that aired on TV before Cameron's came out. Nothing like the good folks at NBC (or wherever) trying to capitalize on a huge anticipated epic by rushing a low budget version into production and coming out first.
I think it was. There were two parts to it.
This TV movie aired in November 1996, 13 months before Cameron's version hit theaters. Sometimes, it turns up on cable channels like the Hallmark channel. Also, it gave to the world a horrible actress named Catherine Zeta-Jones. I haven't liked her in anything I've seen her in. That includes Entrapment, Oceans 12 and Intolerable Cruelty.
Hmmm... I recall that being the first time I'd seen her and thinking she was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen.
Date should be 1996, not 2006.
