Poster for Oliver Stone's upcoming biopic of George W. Bush.

It is currently scheduled for October 17, 2008 release, just in time for the election.

Teaser trailer.

Interesting trailer. Not sure how much marketability this movie has though. One one hand you've got the people who like Bush won't want to see an Oliver Stone film that they see as a smear job on the President. On the other hand you've got the people who hate Bush who probably don't want to see a film about Bush growing up from a party frat boy into a reformed Christian and family man.

Stone never disappoints as far as controversy goes.

If the film highlights the negativities about Bush, and "reveals" things in his past, then liberals will go see it. Whether those things revealed are true or not, given Stone's attitude toward the truth, on the other hand, is another question.

Rob Corddry!

Seeing Donald Sutherland do the Rumsfeld look has got to be the funniest thing I've seen all day.

By Josh M on Thursday, September 11, 2008 - 5:54 pm:

I mean Scott Glenn. Because he's playing Rumsfeld. My mistake.

By Josh M on Thursday, September 11, 2008 - 5:54 pm:

Still funny, though.

IMHO, Lions Gate marketed it as a comedy. My opinion is reinforced by the use of the Talking Heads' song "Once In A Lifetime" in the commercials.
W. did kind of poorly at the box office in its opening weekend, landing in fourth place with $10.6 million. It was a weak box office weekend all around, as even the top flick, Max Payne took in just $18 million.

I no fan of GW Bush but when I saw the trailers even I was like "what were they thinking?" Oliver Stone I can understand, he's rather eccentric anyway; but who in the world saw that project and said "hey lets give him millions of dollars for this project.
