Superbowl trailer.

Ok....so it is a comedy...right? Or is a a lighthearted drama in which people are making wisecracks.

I know this guy is supposed to be some famous Hollywood celebrity, but I've never seen him before.

The tv show board, which has some movie discussion, is here:

By Benn (Benn) on Tuesday, February 03, 2009 - 8:35 am:

Will Farrell started out as a regular on Saturday Night Live in the '90s. He has yet to do a serious role of any sort. So, yeah, Land of the Lost will be a comedy. Personally, I think I'm going to give this one a pass.

By Luigi_novi (Luigi_novi) on Tuesday, February 03, 2009 - 9:30 am:

Actually, Stranger Than Fiction was a fairly serious role for him. He was good in it, and the movie itself was pretty good.

By Benn (Benn) on Tuesday, February 03, 2009 - 9:37 am:

Hm. That movie passed me by. I stand (or sit, really) corrected. But I still think Land of the Lost is going to be a comedy, rather an action-adventure film with comedic overtones.

By ScottN (Scottn) on Tuesday, February 03, 2009 - 9:49 am:

I agree with Luigi about Stranger than Fiction. Worth a look, Benn.

By Benn (Benn) on Tuesday, February 03, 2009 - 11:48 am:

Aight. I've added it to my Netflix queue.

By Mike Cheyne (Mikec) on Tuesday, February 03, 2009 - 12:29 pm:

Will Ferrell was also serious in "Winter Passing," a film I have not seen.

By Luigi_novi (Luigi_novi) on Tuesday, February 03, 2009 - 1:38 pm:

That movie came out? Sheesh. I remember when the company I was working for screened it. I wondered if it ever came out. It must've died a quick death at the box office or something.

By Josh M (Joshm) on Tuesday, February 03, 2009 - 5:02 pm:

Yeah, IIRC, it did pass on pretty fast. I'm not sure it even got a wide release.

By Kevin (Kevin) on Wednesday, February 04, 2009 - 12:49 am:

Don't previews generally contain the funniest bits? Oh this does not bode well....

And I'm one of those old fuddy-duddies who stopped watched SNL after season 5 and have never watched a complete episode since.

By Mike Cheyne (Mikec) on Wednesday, February 04, 2009 - 11:32 pm:

At least watch the 1986-1990 episodes, man.

This movie was a real missed opportunity.

They had a budget that the old TV show could only dream about, they could have told a good Science Fiction story that the show couldn't. Perhaps we could have delved into the Altrusian civilization (the ones that made the Land) and explore how they degenerated into the Sleestack.

But no, they pissed it away in making it a silly comedy that was an insult, not a tribute, to the TV show.
