Wow. What a trailer.

I had no idea that this film was being made until just now, getting the link from a Roger Ebert blog entry.

This is one of those trailers that I liked immensely, much like those for Contact, 300 and Elizabeth: The Golden Age, completely apart from knowing what the quality of the film itself will be like. (Interesting that of these three examples, two of them are historical stories, like Creation). I really like the music and the choice of images, the title of the film, and the fact that a real-life husband and wife are playing Darwin and his wife. Paul Bettany really does have a resemblance to Darwin, not just because of the way he cut his hair for the role, but has a cranium reminiscent of the young Darwin. The scenes with his children were profoundly sad for me to watch, as I suspect the film itself will be, since I know what happened to Darwin's daughter.

Jon Amiel is not one of my favorite directors (remember The Core? Ugh.), but I'm interested in seeing this. Interestingly, it will premiere September 10, so we don't have long to wait.
