No friggin' way.
John Carter of Mars is going to be a Pixar film????!!!????
So not only will it be a Disney film, but it will be a family film???? And Pixar's first live-action film?
Wow.
I imagine that the typical Martian attire established in the novels will be done away with in the adaptation process. I hope Edgar Rice Burroughs purists won't be too ticked.
The film will be directed by Andrew Stanton, who directed Finding Nemo and WALL-E, and will be released in the summer of 2012.
Carter will be played by Taylor Kitsch, who played Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Dejah Thoris will by played by Lynn Collins, who played in Kayla Silverfox in the same film.
They're dropping "of Mars" from the title.
Me no like.
So I guess the poster they released is now outdated, huh?
Disney's John Carter will probably go down as one of the biggest financial disasters in movie history. The film cost $350 million to make and market, and has taken in (to date) some $184 million worldwide. It's estimated that it needs to bring in $600 million worldwide just to break even. Disney is estimating a $200 million loss on the pic. More here.
This pic is a flop of epic proportions; it's estimated that Disney will eat some $200 million because of it. More here.
