Empire magazine cover with Sam Worthington (Marcus Wright from Terminator Salvation) as Perseus. It comes out next year.
Wait a sec. Ray Harryhausen already did this!
What's wrong with it that they feel the need to re-make it?
Better special effects? The chance to introduce the story to a generation that wants to see a modern telling of it on the big screen?
Sure, Harryhausen already did it. (He produced it, but didn't direct it, though.) But the ancient Greeks already did it before him.
I think Harryhausen's sfx rule.
Pic of Liam Neeson as Zeus. The three pics before it in that gallery are also from the film.
Trailer!
I liked the visuals, but I thought the music was too modern. I would've preferred something more orchestral or classical.
Second trailer, with blink and you'll miss her Medusa and the Kraken.
One thing I hadn't realized was Liam and Ralph are together again. Nice.
A good movie but don't waste your money with the 3D version, the extra effects weren't that great. There were also a few noticable changes from the original story; such as Perseus not marrying Andromada(?) and the color of Pegasus, which is it suppose to be? Perseus also didn't fight the giant, but he could be seen standing on a mountain.
There was an obvious nod to the previous movie: a funny scene with the mechanical owl where Perseus picks it up out of a weapons bin and asks what it is. I don't know if this is part of the original story but the reflective back-sided shield to defeat Medusa returned as well, which is strange this time considering it came from the skin of the giant-scorpion. The hilt of Perseus' first sword, the non-cool one, seemed similar to the earlier one.
I'm sure there were other things I wanted to mention but I'm at working so it's a little distracting, darn work
I did some research on Perseus on our friend wikipedia and found out a few interesting things, aside from there being two different stories:
Perseus got his head bag, shield, sword, invisibility-helmet, and winged shoes from Athena. The giant scorpions came from Medusa's blood not his step-father, like it was in the older movie. The Kraken is not actually called that in this story; it's more like a whale and known as Cetus. Speaking of which, in this movie the Kraken was controlled by Hades. In the previous one it was Poseidon's, which makes more sense to me. Also, I don't the the gods dealt directly with people near as much than in this movie, and I don't believe Hades had anything to do with this story.
I don't know how well this pic did at the box office, but it makes its HBO premiere Saturday, January 8 at 8 p.m. (ET) A mere nine months after its release to theaters. AFAIK, it won't be broadcast in 3-D, however.
