It's back in development.

For some reason Marvel is going with Mark Bailey to write the screenplay, even though he's only written documentaries up until now.

There is an extra scene at the end of the end credits.
A spoiler is at the end of these remarks.
Released in 2018, Black Panther is the sixth film of Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the 18th MCU film overall.
Playing the title character is Chadwick Boseman who had first played the character in Captain America: Civil War.
Playing the antagonist N'Jadaka / Erik "Killmonger" Stevens is Michael B. Jordan. Curiously Jordan was Johnny Storm/Human one of The Fantastic Four in the 2015 movie version. The Fantastic Four is a Marvel movie but this movie is not part of the MCU.
In a sad coincidence Jordan’s The Fantastic Four co-star Reg. E. Cathey had passed away on February 9 2018 the same time period of the release of Black Panther.
Another notable casting in Black Panther is Danai Gurira. She is well known to The Walking Dead fans for playing Michonne in that series.
Black Panther is a very well handled film in which the said character is the headliner of his own movie.

After Black Panther had stabbed Killmonger the former offer to heal the latter but Killmonger refuses knowing he will become a prisoner if he lived. For him death was better than bondage.
Killmonger’s demise is rather reminiscent in Doctor Who: Last of the Time Lords in which the Master got shot and refuses the Doctor’s plea to regenerate knowing to do so he will then become the prisoner of the Doctor’s.

Marvel studios put together a nice little tribute to Chadwick Boseman, who would have turned 44 today.
They did a similar tribute to Stan Lee after he passed, as well
