With Universal adapting Stephen King's Dark Tower series, I guess CBS and Warner Bros. figured it'd be a good idea to adapt another of King's works for the big screen.

Honestly, the miniseries didn't work for me. The whole Deus ex Deus ending kind of ruined the whole thing. If people are just pawns being pushed around, following out their divine destiny, then it doesn't much matter to me who's doing the pushing. King commented that no one minded when he brought in demons, but bringing in God caused a ruckus (loose expression of his idea.) But it is very different. I liked the early part with the spread of the plague; I love that kind of "Earth Abides" or "I Am Legend" stuff. But the later parts, where a character's "goodness" is determined by how closely they feel the unexplainable promptings of faith to trust Mother Abigail implicitly; that, I hated.

When Frannie and Harold are holing up at her house, she brings out a portable record player to play some music on. She then puts on a full-length LP and we hear Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over". The problem? "Don't Dream" was not the first track on that LP. It was the third or fourth.

Stephen King must be a prophet.

In The Dead Zone, he foresaw the emergence of Donald Trump (Greg Stillson).

In this story (which he originally wrote back in the 70's) he foresaw Covid-19.

Thankfully, Covid-19 is nowhere near as deadly as Captain Trips.
