Steven Spielberg produced and J.J. Abrams wrote and directed this science fiction film set for June release. The Super Bowl TV spot is here, though there's not much in it to give the viewer an idea of the plot. I learned more by reading the Wikipedia article on it. (Didn't know that Dakota Fanning had a younger a sister, for example.)

I saw this yesterday. I liked it a lot. It's the best movie I've seen all year so far. I highly recommend it, especially if you've been disappointed with the crop of movies that have come out this summer.

Director J.J. Abrams' nod to Spielberg (who produced) is palpable in this film, set in 1979, which captures the feel of childhood innocence of that era.

So is this like the third movie directed or produced by J.J. Abrams to feature an alien with spider-like leg/walking structure. There was Cloverfield, then that red snow alien in Star Trek, and now this one.
