POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Movies: Documentaries: POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold
By Luigi Novi (Luigi_novi) on Monday, March 21, 2011 - 3:34 pm:

The new film by Morgan Spurlock the creator of Super Size Me and 30 Days.

It's about product placement, marketing and advertising in movies, and so Spurlock got the film entirely funded by advertising.

You can see the trailer at the film's official site here.

This looks awesome! When does it come out?

By Luigi Novi (Luigi_novi) on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 - 1:48 am:

The entrance page of website (after you close the trailer viewer) says:

"OPENS APRIL 22
IN SELECT CITIES

COMING SOON
TO A CITY NEAR YOU"

So if you live in a "select" city, April 22.

Otherwise....soon.

i suspect "select" city is nowhere near Australia....

The trailer is great. Made me laugh more than a lot of movies did. It even has an appearance by consumer advocate Ralph Nader, that I assume is in the movie. Nader is not known for his sense of humor (does he even have one?) but I assume he knew what he was getting into when he made his appearance.
This is not the first movie to be financed mostly by product placement (maybe the first to be financed entirely, though.) According to IMDB, $120 million of the $142 million cost of the James Bond movie Die Another Day was paid for with product placement.
