I saw this sci-fi comedy, which is written by and starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz), on the recommendation of Peter David, who said it was good.

I think this film is tailor-made for sci-fi nitpickers like us. It's funny in its own right, has a fairly straightforward plot, and plenty of joking references to movies like Star Trek, Star Wars, and Aliens.

It's fairly derivative, and doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it's a good way for genre fans to spend an hour and 44 minutes.
