Cabin in the Woods

This movie finally came to my second run theater so I finally saw it. Pretty good, fun, gory movie. Some major plot holes toward the end, though.

First of all, killing Marty before Dana is vital to save the world. And there's only one guard who initially confronts them? Seems a bit careless and it quickly proves to be so. Sure, there was a whole SWAT-esque team on its way to resolve the situation, but if they're doing that anyway, why not wait? Why risk what actually happens and providing weapons for the two victims?

Two, that control room ends up being pretty vital in that place. Why is there apparently only the single guard stationed there? And why, given the controls in the room and what they can do, does he leave the door open? Seems like a place with that much control over the holding pens would have a little more security.

And why in the name of all that is holy is there a control that releases every hell creature and nightmare at once? What possible purpose does that serve? Did know one think to question that decision in the planning stages?

"So, what's this 'purge' control do, does it kill all of the creatures in the event of a breach?"
"No, it releases them."
"It releases them? Which ones?"
"All of them."
"All of them."
"Yes sir."
"We have a control that releases every single hellspawn into the facility simultaneously."
"That is correct."
"It releases zombies, werewolves, evil clowns, mass murderers, giant cobras, giant bats, mermen, etc, etc. At the same time."
"Correct."
"I see no problem with that. Carry on."

Seems humanity may have deserved its destruction, not for our cruelty, but our pure stupidity.

Kind of like a dark TZ episode.
