God, they made a documentary about Morton Downey Jr. Remember that jerk?
I remember when I we were in high school, and he got big. They filmed that show next door in Secaucus, NJ, as I recall.
I remember when my schoolmate Rudy Petrella was an audience member in an episode saying farewell to yuppies, which involved a yuppie in a coffin at the end of the episode, and Mort got some audience members to kneel down in front of it, or something, and Rudy was one of them. I remember that at the time, my naive, ignorant mind was actually impressed by his "common man" demagoguery, but looking at his antics now, and the way he talks to people he disagrees with, and to people like Ron Paul, whom I generally respect on issues of economics and constitutional rights, it's just embarrassing.

To call it disorganized would have been an understatement. It was such a mess, they came close to putting on a repeat show, as they weren't ready to go live until the last minute. Remember "Predator 2"? He played Tony Pope, host of the L.A. expose schlockshow "Hard Core". He basically played himself in that - a real jerkoff. And I loved it when Harrigan punched him dead in the face, he wasn't seen again after that. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy!
I remember him as well.
Downey was also a smoker, and a fierce smoking advocate; he was known for blowing cigarette smoke into anti-smoking advocates faces. Until he himself was diagnosed with lung cancer; he then did a complete 180, and turned against smoking. The cancer would eventually take his life in 2001.
