We were watching this today for some reason, and the scene where Herc rescues Meg from the death pool drove her crazy. She kept complaining about the apparent distance of the surface from the edge of the cliff.

Herc was able to reach in and get his hands aged, but he had to dive in to get to Meg, even though she was on the surface. The distance kept changing depending on the needs of the story. I guess IRTS.
