I decided to create a board for this instead of putting it under "Misc nits"

(SPOILERS)

Why did the scientist create Ava when he has at least six other working androids stuffed in his closet?

The Asian android seemed pretty sentient to me.

------------------------------------------------

At the end, Ava decides to run off on her own and leave the guy who she bonded with behind.

Was that a nice thing to do?

I was kind of hoping for both of them to leave together.

--------------------------------------------------

WHEW...that Asian android was hot.

I wouldn't want another android after that.

Obviously, the scientist is a womanizer

(or is it androidizer ?)
----------------------------------------------

So...Ava and the Asian android killed their creator.

If the police find this out, can they arrest an android to face charges of first degree murder?

From what I understand, each one was progressively closer to his goal, the true Singularity of sentience. When he wasn't satisfied with one model's level of development, he'd store it and build a more advanced one.

The Asian android he kept as a servant apparently wasn't close enough either.

Not remotely, but that was the point, wasn't it? The way I read it was that Nathan was right, that Ava didn't truly have affection for Caleb, that she was manipulating him into helping her escape. Once she did, she didn't want to risk the one person who knew her true nature exposing her, so she leaves him to die. Survival first.

I get it. Thanks

Then she should have killed him outright instead of assuming that he won't find some way to survive and come after her.

For a moment, I thought that Kyoko was the true Turing test and Ava was the misdirection.
Of course Kyoko couldn't speak English, which Nathan claimed was on purpose but perhaps it was a flaw.

I would like a complete answer to how old Ava is. One what? It was odd that she did not say.

If the doors were changed to open when power went out, then why couldn't Caleb escape then?
I would hope there would be back-up plan such as someone trying to contact if no communication is received.

IMHO: Ava could not be charged with a crime but she could be punished. It would be like punishing a pit-bull for killing it's owner.
