How come Ms. Scrumptious never asks "What happened to the children's mother?" during any of her meetings with Prof. Potts?

What happened to the driver and his aide after the car was totaled during the Gran Prix at the beginning of the movie?

They never explain why the King and Queen hate children...a little more script would've explained it.

Why does Grandpa Potts live in a shed? Isn't there enough room in the house? If not...why not build another room?

* How did the bathtub have any part of rebuilding the car?

* When the family leaves the castle, Chitty unfurls her wings...and they have propellers on them...um....the propellers weren't there the first time she unfurled her wings....where did these propellers come from? Who installed them?
