The name 'Captain Marvel' is a nit.
At no time is Danvers ever called 'Captain Marvel', 'Marvel', or 'Mar-Vell'.
The Skrulls become sympathetic and not the true villains? Don't agree with that.
She becomes far too powerful and unstoppable in the end.
An okay movie, but not necessary at all to see before (or after) 'Avengers: Endgame'.

I'm glad it wasn't only me who thought that, Steve. Having no knowledge of the comic book canon, when Lawson was revealed as having the real name Mar-Vell (and at that time it wasn't clear what the spelling was), I was gobsmacked that there hadn't been any spoilers that the title of the film was actually pronounced Marvel rather than Marvel. Later, when Fury nicknamed Carol and said that the Marvel pronounciation sounded better/cooler, I realised I'd been stupid to think that the other pronounciation could ever have been kept spoiler-free for all that time. Then, like Steve, I thought, "But why did he give her that name?" Carol was Lawson/Mar-Vell's test pilot, Mar-Vell's energy core inadvertently gave Carol her powers, and Carol destroyed the device when Mar-Vell was killed before she could do so, but otherwise there's no specific link between them. Maybe the comic books explain it better?

I enjoyed the film, and it was less hard work than Infinity War which was brilliant but was so full-on all the way through that it was difficult to keep up. This film had calmer moments which gave me a chance to catch my breath.

I was in tears at the beginning when the usual cartoon page flips turned into images of Stan Lee.

The only time I frowned a little was during the latter scenes of Carol blasting through space, blowing up the nukes, and battling the ships. During some of that CGI her face looked strangely fat and unrecognisable.

I'm glad that I went to see this film, which I only did so that I would know who and what Carol is in Endgame. Not that it was a chore, because there's no such thing as a bad Marvel movie, and it does help if you're a canon ignoramus, because otherwise it's confusing and distracting when a character turns up who you know nothing about.

Yes, the segments of all of Stan's cameos inside the words 'MARVEL STUDIOS' was fantastic.
And my favorite part of the movie.
We should have one or two cameos left with Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, since they were in productions before Stan passed.

I had a thought that - assuming that Endgame results in our heroes undoing Thanos' finger snap and all/most of the disintegrated characters coming back to life - if one of the reintegrating people is Stan, cinemas will find it difficult to get customers out of the theatre because so many will be sobbing for ages afterwards!

I know Captain Marvel never invented it, and the imagery goes back to comic book artwork but...
...just how do people see through eyes that are glowing with power?

Not necessarily a nit because he could have just been lying, but this film basically makes Fury's stated reasons for developing weaponry with the Tessaract in The Avengers BS. There he claimed that it was the arrival of Thor and the Destroyer that showed Earth and SHIELD that aliens existed and they were far more advanced. Clearly, they had already known that from the events of this film.
