Stuber

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Movies: Comedy: Stuber
By Matthew See (Matthew_see) on Saturday, July 13, 2019 - 8:00 pm:

I saw Stuber because it has my beloved Karen Gillan in it and she was briefly at the beginning.

Karen plays a cop and of course she was dressed as a cop when she was a kissogram in her Amy Pond debut The Eleventh Hour.

The name of Karen's character in Stuber is Sara Morris and incidentally Sara is also the name of Sara Kingdom.

Just as Sara Morris was briefly in Stuber, Sara Kingdom was briefly a First Doctor companion.

For Stuber, Karen got the "And" credit.

Given Karen's presence in Stuber, Stuber ends in virtually the same way that the 2011 Doctor Who Christmas Special The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe which featured Karen briefly as Amy.
Stuber ends with Nicole (Natalie Morales) opening the door for her father Vic (Dave Bautista) on Christmas and that is exactly what happened in The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe when Amy opened the door for the Doctor on Christmas.

Sara got killed off and if I were to write myself into the movie it would be as Sara's Chinese husband and mourning the loss of the love of my life.
With the rest of Stuber with no Karen in it, it was overall not bad with Kumail Nanjiani and Dave Bautista not bad as a team and the surprise revelation of the villain.
Having said that it does presents certain aspects that felt uncomfortable with me, things I would not have seen if Karen hadn't been tagged at the start of this film.
