Cast list so far, from Cinema Blend. Note that Shia LaBeouf is nowhere to be found. That's not necessarily a bad thing.
Harrison, you're a great actor, but you're pushing 80, for crying out loud.
Even Clint Eastwood knew when it was time to hang up his Dirty Harry character (he last played the role when he was 58).
Filming will begin soon; Harrison Ford has arrived in England to do just that. This article states that Indy 5 will be the last one.
Unless they make a sixth one where they go in search of Ford's mummy.
Antonio Banderas is going to be in
Indiana Jones 5, so we know it's going to be good !!!
We know nothing of the sort.
It is true. At least as of this writing. However, that alone doesn't guarantee that the movie is going to be any good. (The apparent absence of Shia LaBeouf is an indication that it will be better than the last one, though.)
Sorry Adam, I should have been more clear in what I meant.
I was not disputing the fact that Antonio Banderas will be in the movie.
Rather I was challenging Jeff's claim that "we know it's going to be good", when we know nothing of the sort. I have some misgivings about a senior citizen trying to be an action star.
What is it with aging actors trying to recapture glories of decades past. I mean Clint Eastwood knew when it was time to retire his Dirty Harry character (which he last played in 1988).
Now, I'm not saying that Harrison Ford should stop working, but he must realize that he isn't 35 anymore.
I wonder what a good Title for
Indiana Jones 5 would be ..?

Actually, according to WCBS-TV, the title is Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Also, de-aging technology is used (like in The Irishman) to de-age Harrison Ford, so he could appear as Indy in flashbacks. It opens on June 30, 2023.
Sung to the tune of Old Man River.
Old man, Indy,
dat old man, Indy.
His joints are creakin',
his bladder is leakin'.
He keeps on lurchin,
he keeps on lurchin, along.
Indiana Jones and the Long, Meandering Story That Goes Nowhere.
That one was released in 2008. It was titled Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
De-aging technology is used to de-age Harrison Ford, so he could appear as Indy in flashbacks.
Why do they need to do that? The producers have four movies over the past 41 years that they can draw flashbacks from. De-aging (using CGI) is very expensive; my guess is the pricetag of this pic is well over $200 million. Guess Disney has a bottomless pit of cash to throw at this pic.
Another aging actor trying to live in the past.
I just found out a few minutes ago
Today, Tuesday December 6, 2022 that the Title for Indiana Jones 5 will be
"Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny"
The title was released before the start of the weekend, perhaps even over Thanksgiving. Adam Bomb mentioned it on his 12/2 post. Pretty terrible title IMHO, but nobody asked so I guess that's free.
If it had been set 10 years later, it would have been "Indiana Jones and the Touch-Tone of Destiny".
Initial buzz isn't too good. More on that here

Nice pun. However, touch tone service was first demonstrated at the 1964 New York World's Fair.

Bottomless indeed. The pricetag here is closer to $300 million. More on that here.
In the modern era it would be Indiana Jones And The Iphone Of Destiny.
Finally. A pretty decent review. This is one to see in a theater, even at two hours and 22 minutes, as video viewing options may be limited. (I don't know if new movies are released on disc any more, thanks to streaming, and I don't subscribe to streaming service Disney Plus. If you're of age, like I am, don't forget to ask for senior priced tickets. )
I've seen this being promoted on TV.
And, another halfway decent review.
I wonder. If the first actor the producers wanted to play Indy, Tom Selleck, was able to set aside his commitment to Magnum P.I. and play Indy in Raiders, way back in 1980, would five films have been made?
Screenings here actually start tomorrow, June 29 at 4 p.m. And, it ain't going to be cheap. Even senior tickets for the premium screenings, with top tier projection and sound, go for $17.50 in the local Regal Cinema.
I saw it, Not Bad , Fun Fact
The MPA# for Dial of Destiny was
54321
Unfortunately, this pic is shaping up to be a possible box office disaster. Especially given its $250-300 million pricetag. Opening weekend take at the box office was a soft $60 million. More here.
Wish I could say I was surprised, but I'm not.
These aging actors have to stop trying to live in the past.
It's not just the actors, my friend. Since purchasing Lucasfilm, Disney management seems to want to exploit properties like Star Wars and Indiana Jones to the n-th degree. Keeping at it until it doesn't work any more. I wonder, since Disney has acquired Twentieth Century Fox, and probably all their properties, is a reboot of Alien in the cards? (Hope Disney hot shots aren't reading this; they just might get some bad ideas. )
Adam: since Disney has acquired Twentieth Century Fox, [...] is a reboot of Alien in the cards?
I don't know about a reboot, yet, but a new movie in the franchise has just completed filming (or some important benchmark). The current title is Alien: Romulus and it's rumored to take place between Alien and Aliens. I personally would prefer it to take place after Aliens, but there you go. Not sure if it's got a theater release planned anyway; probably just go right to Hulu like the last Predator movie.
Haven't seen this movie, and I couldn't be less interested in doing so. Just thought I'd throw in a comment related to the board
Fun Fact: Harrison Ford says he
identifies far more with the character of Indiana Jones than with Han Solo
Unfortunately, this pic is shaping up to be a possible box office disaster.
Which is a shame, as I saw the pic this afternoon, and liked it a lot. There were maybe six or seven people in the theater. Including yours truly. The critical drubbing the pic is getting is quite unfair.
The scenes set in New York City in 1969, where Indy is living in a dumpy apartment, had a few Checker taxi cabs in the background. But, those cars had the big 5-mph bumpers. Which weren't installed (by law) on cars until the 1973 model year (front) and 1974 (both front and rear).
Disney is like a vampire, sucking everything it touches dry.
This pic comes to physical media on 12/5/23. I thought DVD and Blu-ray releases were practically a thing of the past, but Lucasfilm seems to be going all in on this. More here.
Should have called it quits with Crystal Skull.
Should have called it quits with Last Crusade
The Mouse ruins another franchise.
