Dark City was cool. Sometimes confusing, but cool.

After watching this movie, you won't look at your loved ones quite the same way again. You'll begin to suspect that these people may have been strangers 24 hours ago. You have to question how somebody can get away with doing this before somebody suspecting. After all, many of us have pictures of loved ones. In order to completely get away with this, you have to alter photographs.
I guess people in this city don't take many photos.

Of course no one takes pictures... the lighting is too bad! Besides which, most of the cars in the movie looked to be no later than 50's models, indicating that these people were scooped around that time. Photography at that point wasn't as convenient as it is today!

The aliens didn't like moisture, so you would think that it never rained, but to me everything looked like it was wet, just after a rain.

That's an old cinematographer's trick to make surfaces look more interesting.

I loved this film. Thought it looked like garbage when it was released in theaters but was I surprised how good it was when I finally got to see it on video! One of those rare films that has me wanting to know what happens next when it ends. If you've only seen this one once...watch it again! I've seen it 6 times now and I still find new details everytime I watch the movie.

One of the best sci-fi films ever made. Also one of the most neglected.

Indeed, this film ranks up there with Powder and Cube on the really big list of overlooked gems.......

re:rain

If you notice, the streets are usually wet in a b&w movie because dry streets don't photograph well in b&w. I'm sure it would have been no problem here, even though it was *dark*, but it does make for a more atmospheric tone.
