City of Angels

In City of Angels, starring Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan, I noticed some noteworthy flaws. They are as numerically proceeds:
1) Who is Tom and how does Dr. Margaret Rice and he know one another?
2) The background music is U2's "If God Would Send His Angels" during the diner scene between Nathaniel Messinger and Seth.
3) When Dr. Margaret Rice requests, "Just stay until I fall asleep," watch as Seth's hand reaches over her chest, the screen pans away, and then has Seth's hand is reaching over again.
4) What is with the glimpses of children, a pregnant woman, etc., during Seth's free-fall scene?
5) The black scarf around Seth's neck is constantly vanishing or being rearranged throughout the course of this film.

...and then has Seth's hand >is< reaching... = ...and then has Seth's hand reaching... Typo.

As Seth and Casiel are perched atop an oversized billboard-like cowboy's hat and discussing how splendorous it would be to exist as a human, Seth commences saying, "To lie," just as Casiel augmentatively says, "through your teeth." What has prevented them from lying before? I mean, when Dr. Margaret Rice inquires, "What is your last name?", Seth replies, "You know my last name." Last time I checked that is considered a lie!

This entirely passed me despite the many times I have spectated this film. After Seth falls and becomes human, he remains on a particular sidewalk that commonly serves as a bus stop. During this time Seth exhibits his knowledge of hitchhiking by extending his thumb and assuming the position. However, when and how did Seth discover this to be the behavior of someone seeking passage to a location if he has never been human? Unless he is a quick learner, this is officially a "nit-pick."

This movie had the greatist ending in the history of cinema.

Maybe, but it still pales in overall artistic quality from its original, "Wings of Desire."

I sort of missed the ending cuz Mom called and I got distracted so when it's on cable again this month I'll watch the end. But I saw enough to get the gist of it, though. The more I watched it, the more I realized that Nick Cage is so-o-o not right to play Superman, if that film ever takes off. Maybe he could play some other, less handsome hero or even better, a villian, but not Supes. He just ain't got the face for it.

And if anyone's wondering why an agnostic would watch such a film, well, just call it morbid curiosity and having nothing else to do as well.

To D.Stuart, out of curiosity, why is the playing of the U2 song considered a flaw?

By Adam Bomb on Sunday, July 18, 2004 - 12:55 pm:

Alanis Morissette does her song from this film, "Uninvited," at her live performances. For some reason, it's not on any of her four studio albums, just her 1999 "MTV Unplugged" CD.

He's spent a lot of time around humans. I'm sure he's seen a lot.
