This movie was cool, it's too bad part 2 was garbage(I never saw it, but that's what my friends tell me.).

I thought this movie was great. I gave it a 9 out of 10(10 being the best, 5 being average and 0 being the worse). I like the fact that even though it was based on a video game they still seemed to try to make a real movie. It only needed more fight scenes with Kitana and Sonya Blade to be the perfect fight film.

I was shocked and surprised at how...good(!) it was. Lets be honest, most game to movie films are best forgotten. There was nothing original about it (being 5 parts "Enter The Dragon," 3 parts "Highlander" and 2 parts "Star Wars4:ANH") but it still worked. It didn't try to be more then it was, and that made it good. It found it's niche and intrenched itself there. I was shocked when I walked out giving it a 8 out of 10.
I stickly avoided the rest. You only get lucky once.

I heard that when Johnny cage, and Sorpion are fighting in the forest, that you can see a car drive by, way in the background. Don't ask me where it is. I only heard about it.

I recently re-saw this film on TBS, and I couldn't help but wonder:

Why do nearly all the inhuman 'characters', specifically Reptile, Scorpion's snake creature, and Scorpion himself after being unmasked, sound exactly the same?

i loved this movie! i think that the key is to go in expecting eye candy. it delivers lots of that.
i thought the fight choreography was excellent ( most of it was anyway) johnny cage vs scorpion is my nomination for second best fight scene ever. second only to lou gosset(sp?) vs richard gere in an officer and a gentleman.

This movie was good, for a game based plot. The music helped alot.

By Timmer on Monday, January 10, 2000 - 3:03 pm:

I loved this movie, prolly because I'm a big fan of the game. Just one thing bothered me :
They almost totally ignored the Scorpion/Subzero storyline from the game. (well, except for that throwaway line : "Scorpion and Subzero, deadliest of ennemies, but slaves under my power" )

My nitpicks are as numerically proceeds:
1) Shang Tsung proclaimed a flawless victory on the part of Goro when he combated and ultimately defeated the African-American martial artist, yet Goro had in fact sustained hits from the man. Technically, it was not a flawless victory. The same applies at the conclusion when Liu Kang proclaims his duel with Shang Tsung to be a flawless victory.
2) Individuals can only traverse the portal to the Outworld when bearing particular tattoos, as illustrated in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation by Raiden, but Liu Kang and Johnny Cage, in direct contradiction, enter the Outworld without a single tattoo.
3) If Shang Tsung and Lt. Sonya Blade traversed the portal to the Outworld and were followed almost immediately by Liu Kang and Johnny Cage, then he and she reached the Outworld tower rather quickly. Likewise, Lt. Sonya Blade had quite a fast clothes change.
4) Not truly a nitpick, but I would have much preferred to have had Scorpion's spear not being a corporeal entity that emerges from his hand, Reptile not being in his legitimate form at all or at least for only a few moments, and Shang Tsung's shape-shifting capability not being restricted to acquired souls. Speaking of Shang Tsung, there was no reason they could not have placed gray in the actor's hair. They need not make him decrepit, but he was introduced as an elderly fighter. Now that I mention it, there is a nuance in the original video game I wish to articulate. The initial image to flee from Shang Tsung's body is an image of himself. Could this be an allusion to the fact that his default image had never been his true image? Also worth mentioning is how Raiden ought to have been a full-fledge participant and how Lt. Sonya Blade ought to have had additional bouts.

Five hundred dollars for a pair of sunglasses, Johnny?! He almost boasts this not long after Goro extirpates them within his enormous grasp.

Jeff, ave you seen the movie?

If you have, why don't you talk about it, instead of your irritating habit of asking silly questions and posting links.
