I never saw this but everyone says it was sorry. Well, I happen to own both MK soundtracks, and if they are any indication, it looks like they were right. It's too bad, I liked the first movie. And the original Mortal Kombat Theme Song!!! LOL :)

By Alfonso Turnage on Monday, June 07, 1999 - 7:03 pm:

I have both soundtracks and I thought they were both awesome. Definitely on my top ten of movie soundtracks. As for the movie itself, I gave it about a 6 out of 10(10 being the best, 5 being average and 0 being the worse). It had excellant fight scenes, but the plot was mostly non-existant and what was there was horrid and confusing.

By Matt Pesti on Saturday, June 12, 1999 - 7:24 pm:

The problems with this movie are they didn't bother to sign the origninal cast cast for another flim. The whole elder gods subplot comes from Mortal Kombat 4 a game that very few people played compared to MK 1 and 2.

Now for the nits
So Rayden's powers don't work in outworld but khan's do on earth.

Khan advanced weaponry includes Horsemen, infantry, and Ninjas. Okay so assuming he invaded let's say 24th century earth, and assuming he beat let's say Seven with her borg powers and invades earth wouldn't red shirts be able to take them out.

Despite Rayden's compassion He should have been able to kill Khan. He was posing a direct threat to him and his domain. Rayden had no problem whatsoever tossing Liu around in the first film.

Did you ever wonder if Khan was going to say Power rangers attack.

So who programed Smoke and Cyrax? If I didn't know it was Sub zereo's old order.

Sub Zero, Scropian, Nightwolf seemed to just have cameos.

Shang Tsung has no problem coming back in the game. He is after all a demon sorcereor.

So who was the pink dressed ninja, and why would she remind us of kintana.

By Meg on Monday, June 14, 1999 - 8:47 am:

The Pink ninja was Mileena, Kitanta's twin sister.

When Motaro galloped down the pillars near the end of th film, was anyone else thinking "Jason and The Argonauts"?

I thought Jax's arm attachments were implants, not gloves.

By trevor on Wednesday, June 23, 1999 - 9:48 am:

this movie was so incredibly bad. it seems like they took everything good from the first movie and intentionally left it out. even the fights were weak. did i mention that i hated this movie.

By Lonesome Warrior on Thursday, June 24, 1999 - 12:57 pm:

No, but the rest of us probably guessed that. Trust me, Trevor, you're definitely not alone. Kinda makes you wonder if anyone at all involved in this film has a brain.

By Lonesome Warrior on Wednesday, June 30, 1999 - 9:10 am:

Something else: Kitana said in the first movie that she was from Outworld, but in this one Liu says she's from Edenia. And, in case you were wondering, the latter is more accurate, and there is no point between the two films when Kitana could have known where she was really from.

Also: Since when did *Smoke* fire rockets. In the game, this was always Sektor.

By Alfonso Turnage on Wednesday, June 30, 1999 - 8:40 pm:

Edenia is Outworld. Edenia lost to Outworld in Mortal Kombat, so Shoa Kahn was able to make Edenia over in his image.

By Alfonso Turnage on Wednesday, June 30, 1999 - 8:42 pm:

I actually liked the fight scenes, even though I didn't think much of the movie as a whole. I especially liked Sonya Blade vs. Mileena and the one where Kitana used her fan blades. I also thought the music was awesome, most anyway.

By Alfonso Turnage on Wednesday, June 30, 1999 - 8:45 pm:

Yes, Raiden in this movie was a wimp compared
to the Conquest tv show and the first movie. Also, I think Shoa Kahn could use his powers on Earth because of his father, the traitor elder god. In the first movie it was very apparent that
they were trying to make a good movie. In this one they were trying to make a typical action film.

By Lonesome Warrior on Monday, July 05, 1999 - 7:03 am:

Ah. That explains why this one is ••••, then.

And, Alfonso, here are a few things I'd just like to point out:

Kahn's name is Shao, not Shoa.
Kitana wasn't in the Mileena vs. Sonya fight.
Incidently, the rogue god's name is Shinock.
For the record, though Rayden is a bit of a wimp, I think James Remar is at least better than the guy on "Conquest". (sorry, I don't remember his name)

By Matt Pesti on Sunday, August 08, 1999 - 3:21 pm:

Rayden was a whimp in this film. In the First film he had no problem hurting a lot of people. In the game he electrocutes his opponents causing them to explode.

I was greatly provoked after catching Mortal Kombat: Annihilation in the movies theaters, because I wasted over ten dollars for this vapor-emitting exorbitant portion of fecal matter. Nothing was the slightest bit accurate or sensibly entertaining. Did I mention character development and plot consistency were nonexistent? I would have rather witnessed Johnny Cage, Rain, Nightwolf, and Sheeva, as well as Kabal, Sektor, Kung Lao, and Lucas Stryker, who were not included in the movie at all, combat one another than the protagonists (i.e., Liu Kang and Raiden), deuteragonists (Lt. Sonya Blade, Maj. Jackson "Jax" Briggs, and Kitana), and villains (Shao Khan, Sindel, Montaro, and Ermac) make an attempt at a drama-based story line. Even the characters of Jade, who is a hero--not a traitor--in the video game, and Noob Saibot were frivolously introduced and discarded accordingly. Moreover, I feel as if I did not spectate Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Smoke, Cyrax, Mileena, and Shinnok enough in action, particularly Shinnok. Shinnok ought not have been presented until at least the conclusion of the film along with his fiducial sorcerer, Quan Chi. Oh and by the way, that entire sub-rosa mole notion in regard to Jade is direct reference to Tanya in Mortal Kombat 4.

...in the movies theaters... = ...in the [movie theater]... Typo.

By Anonymous on Wednesday, October 06, 1999 - 12:50 am:

Kitana's (or whoever's) fanblade is a horrible weapon in closed form. It is like hitting someone with a club. If someone like, say, Jax, were to use it, it would break some skulls. But with Kitana's apparent strenth (she seems more agile than strong to me) it would pretty much only slightly bruise her opponent.

If anyone is interested in seeing my official review for this movie, they can check it out through my new web site at www.geocities.com/sibryce.

By D. Stuart on Monday, October 30, 2000 - 1:36 pm:

Lt. Sonya Blade and Maj. Jackson "Jax" Briggs recount the exploits apropos of their week, but it has only been six days. Furthermore, when did any of them rest, eat, etc.? I wish I looked that good when remaining awake, hiking around, and battling opponents for six days. By the way, this truly is a horrid movie. I am rather tempted to place this particular film under The Grapevine's Worse Movies sub-section.
