The controller of the private EVA (It's called Jet Alone, and it's not an Eva. -- Matt) says, 'Forward right leg!' and the robot's *left* leg moves.
Most of the time, 'check' is spelt like that, as in English, but at one point it's 'chech'.

Episode 8
Despite the enormous shockwave in the water, none of the other ships so much as rock.

Episode 7

It's always those things that are right in front of your face, prominently displayed on the screen, that you never seem to notice the first five hundred times you watch something, and when you do notice it it's bleedin' hilarious! Of what do I speak? When I was watching this episode for nit-picking purposes, I noticed for the first time that when Shinji is leaving for School the first morning of this episode, Pen Pen is reading the newspaper!

This episode is filled with spelling errors. There is the "chech" that Urac mentioned above. (Which, incidentally, was on Jet Alone's Virus Protection... maybe it was affected by a virus?) And then there were the following:
--When Misato is briefing Shinji on the mission, a sign can be seen that says, "SEFTY FIRST."
--All throughout this episode, Misato's cans of Yebisu Beer say "Yebichu Beer." I double checked previous episodes, and they did indeed spell it Yebisu. The manga version spells it Yebisu, as well.
--The can of Yebichu that Misato drinks at the end is "All Molt Beer." Beer made of shed skin, hair, and / or feathers? Disgusting! If I need a drink, I'll stick with that all malt Yebisu, thank you very much!

Misato went to all of the trouble and expense to get the damage her car suffered in episode 1 repaired. (We saw it undamaged in episode 4.) Yet, in this episode, she has a different car! How does she afford this on a NERV salary?

Is there any reason that during whatever test Shinji is participating in early on in this episode he wears his school uniform rather then his Plug Suit?

Old Tokyo was supposed to have been destroyed by an N-bomb during hostilities that broke out in the immediate aftermath of the Second Impact. However, when we see it in this episode it looks flooded, not bombed.

Dialogue in this episode indicates that the SSDF is not allowed to be involved with the Jet Alone project. So I ask again, what was that positron rifle in the previous episode designed for?

I know Misato was really p.o.'ed, but that must still have been a rather fragile locker to get dented to such a degree.

Ritsuko brings up the point of the absurdity of a weapon designed for land based, hand to hand combat that incorporates a nuclear reactor. I'd like to add to ths by commenting on the foolishness of exposed control rods! If they get bent during combat, how are they supposed to be reinserted?

Misato sarcastically comments on how proud Jet Alone's designers should be that it can walk. Well, walking more then one step without falling down was certainly better then what Shinji was able to accomplish his first time in an Eva.

Episode 8

Woohoo! Auska is here! One thing I have to say about Auska is the following: Usually, when it comes to the actor performing a roll, I have a preference for the Japanese cast, or at least I like both performers equally. However, with the case of Auska this is actually the one time that I have a preference for the English actor over the Japanese one! Tiffany Grant is just the perfect Auska! (And I suppose it doesn't hurt that, unlike the Japanese actress, Tiffany can actually speak German!) I must say, one of the proudest moments of my Otaku life was when Tiffany Grant personally called me baka! Sigh...

As Kensuke goes on about how cool everything is, and Toji chases after his hat, those crewmen in the background sure can stand still, can't they?

Misato is proof that with all that the future will bring, they still won't develop technology to take decent I.D. photos.

Looking at the I.D. closely, one can see a very nice touch in that it is covered with small embossed NERV logos... presumably an anti-counterfeiting measure.

Some of the information on her I.D. is censored, presumably classified. This information is her age, her weight, and her measurements. Makes you wonder if it was classified and censored by NERV Intelligence, or by Misato herself. ^_^

One of the few unclassified bits of information on her I.D. is her blood type. Her blood type is... AO? Funny, I never remember hearing about that one before...

Just as a point of interest, the commander of the Over The Rainbow was given a promotion in the English Dub. In the subtitled version, he is referred to as captain. The dub calls him admiral.

Unit 02 was being transported aboard the Othello. How did Shinji and Auska get from the Over The Rainbow to the Othello?

When Misato and the commander of the Over The Rainbow first talk, she reminds them that if an emergency situation occurs, NERV's military jurisdiction supersedes his. I would certainly conceder an Angel attack to be an emergency situation, so why do Misato and the commander still have to argue over who is in command of the situation?

The two battleships that were sunk were the Kentucky and the Illinois. Can anyone confirm if there are any actual U.S. battleships by this name?

Presumably, the Kentucky and the Illinois are pre-Impact U.S. battleships that were assigned to the UN Pacific Fleet. Do U.S. battleships really have the ability to be sunk so easily? Somehow I doubt it. And even if they were sunk, how do they control the ship's decent course so precisely?

After the Angel is destroyed, Unit 02 is thrown clear of the blast and lands on the deck of a ship. Considering all of the shaking that the Over The Rainbow did when Unit 02 landed on her deck earlier, this ship remains remarkably still.

Most episodes of Neon Genesis Evangelion have two titles. A primary title and a secondary title. The next episode is With One Accord In A Flash -- Both of you, dance like you want to win! Now, usually in the preview the primary title is used. It is even used here in the subtitled version. The screen at the end of the preview even reads, "With One Accord In A Flash." However, in the dub version of the preview, Misato says that the next episode is, "Both of you, dance like you want to win!"

I would guess its a rental. We see her original car in later episodes, and it is undamaged.

Episode Seven:

This episode includes a brief glimpse of a textbook on the "metero strike" and includes a photo of someone, apparently a scientist (I can't make out his name). Am I the only one who thinks that picture looks unusually like Martin Luther King Jr?

Episode Eight:

So... Auska chews out Shinji for thinking in Japanese when her EVA is set for German, then changes the setting to Japanese. Come on, are they trying to tell us that she can completely stop thinking in her native language at the drop of a hat? At several earlier points in this episode, Auska gets angry and starts shouting in German, which STRONGLY suggest that she is thinking that way.

That reminds me: Japan is fighting a far more powerful foe and the nation that comes to their aid is Germany?. Is this meant to be a WWII reference, or just a coincidence?

Well, concidering that there are also branches of NERV in the United States, I think the WWII reference you suggest would kind of fall apart.

In fact, if memory serves Auska is a U.S. citizen.

Good point. Then agian, I wasn't about to be foolish ehough to suggest that it was a full-on allegory or anything, just a cool-sounding reference. After all, I don't know many people who make a big deal out of the massive theological inconcistancies that arise from all the Judeo/Christian imagery. I must have missed the matter of Auska's citizenship, though. When did they say that?

If they ever decide to have synchronized breakfast eating as an Olympic sport then Shinji and Pen Pen would win the Gold hands down!

So who had the bright idea of creating a mech with a nuclear reactor in the first place?Wouldn't that seem a bit more dangerous than the type that NERV is using?

And speaking of which just how much radiation was
Misato exposed to when she went in?I would think that they would have had her in some sort of quarantine area for at least a couple days after the incident,yet apparently the next day she's still at the apartment.Or was there a length of time that is uncounted for?

Best line comes at the end when Shinji complains about how much a slob Misato is and his friends tell him that it's cool because that means she's like family because she's willing to show a side of herself to him that she won't show anyone else.Can't wait for Asuka next week!

I don't think it was ever said in the context of the show itself, and what with it being six years since you asked, I cannot immedietly remember where I uncovered that little tidbit. Probably some online translation of some Ganiax book or some such.

One of these days, I should finish off my nitpicks of Eva. I do beleive these were the last two I did detailed enteries on. Probably not in the very, very near future. But it is on my list of things to finish up one of these centuries.
