Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Neon Genesis Evangelion: Genesis 0:7
Episode 13: Angel Invasion -- Lilliputian Hitcher
Episode 14: SEELE, Throne Of Souls -- Weaving a Story

A new form of Angel attacks NERV and suddenly the war for the fate of mankind shifts to a field of battle in innerspace. As the three Eva pilots sit unprotected in their entry plugs, the powerful MAGI computers that control Tokyo 3 are violated by a savage wave of neural attacks that threaten to leave the entire city crippled and easy prey for the attacking Angels. Ritsuko must face her ultimate challenge as she races against time to decipher the arcane secrets buried deep inside the core of the MAGI by her own mother. Then, Gendo is summoned to the UN committee which is alarmed at the rumoured Angel invasion of NERV and central Dogma. As the incident was not in accordance with the committee's predictions based on the Dead Sea Scrolls, they are understandably panicked by the rumour that they know to be true, despite Ikari's denial of such events claming that the committee was misinformed. With no real evidence to throw at Ikari, however, the committee drops the issue.

Episode 13:

Not a lot to nitpick in this episode. However, I have to wonder why the poor pilots had to be shot so far away. Seem a bit impractical.

Episode 14:

Since much of this episode is clip show, there's not a lot to nitpick here either. I'd like to go ahead and say that they made it MUCH more interesting than most shows of that nature.

Still, I wonder why they didn't mention Tokyo-3's power loss. That seems kind of important.

Whether or not I should pick this is up in the air, but I'll mention it anyway. The creators' knowledge of The Dead Sea Scrolls seems to have been gleened from tabloids mostly. While I'm not an expert, it's my understanding that the big deal about them wasn't that there were earth shattering secrets uncovered, but that they were just very old texts that were pretty well preserved. On the other hand, it could be very easilly argued that there WAS such a discovery; THEY just made sure that we didn't hear about it :)

Confused as to whether this message board is all about complaining and nit picking...despite as much, I have made a discovery...and an inquiry along with it.

Episode 14. I was watching it, and the segment about the Tenth Angel, Sahaquiel, was on. I paused it to go to the bathroom. I accidentally found out this: before Sahaquiel descends from the clouds, there's a few frames with Japanese characters on it. The characters were a slightly different shade of blue than the sky was. It was like a secret or subliminal message, very freaky (and only makes the show better). I wasn't just seeing things, my mother and brother saw the Japanese message as well. Very cool. Very curious...

Unfortunately I cannot read any form of Japanese. I need to know if anyone who posts on this site made the same discovery as I did. If you have not made this discovery, just pause it before the tenth angel (in Episode 14) comes out from the clouds, look closely, and you'll see the secret message. If you can read Japanese I would very much appreciate if you could translate it for me.

Anyway, you're all probably much more knowledgable about the show than I am and have already discovered this. Bare with me, I'm only half-way through the series. I need to know if anyone else knows of this "message in the sky". There are too many other forums on NGE out there worried about spoilers and what not. They have crappy discussions. This place is the best so far for decent discussions on the show, and most of you obviously know what you're talking about. So I hope someone replies!

Whoa... I have NEVER heard of this before. I wonder if there are any other hidden messages in the show (well, duh, of course there are. Make that "hidden TEXT")

Asuka is more whiney than usual in Angel Invasion. In the dub she says at the end:"How am I supposed to get out of this?I'm naked!"
So it appears that Shinji isn't the only member of NERV with parental issues.
For one reason or another they didn't show the upcoming preview after the end theme yesterday like they normally do.
Rei appears to be the least nervous about her body and Asuka the most.
In Matthew the Magi aren't named, the names Melchior,Balthasar and Caspar are from later folk lore.
For once the NERV team is the actual center of the action and not the EVA pilots.
