End of Evangelion

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Neon Genesis Evangelion: Genesis 0:14 (Evangelion Films): End of Evangelion
This film begins with what was the second half of Death / Rebirth, and then keeps going where the cliffhanger from the first film left off, bringing the Evangelion saga to a conclusion.

(I have seen the films, but only once, so if anyone out there could e-mail me a brief synopsis of them, I'd be most greatful. You can reach me at matanian@nitcentral.com.)

This was a cool movie.
But I dont think its a real good idea to release it in the USA cause I doubt it would make much.........anyway

Well, I don't know how successful it would be, and in fact you're probably right in saying that they wouldn't make too much, but if there's a chance of seeing any Eva films on the big screen, I'm sure I'm going to spend my $8.50. ($8.50 for a movie ticket... my god, what's the world come to?)

The Biggest problem would be the reveiwers seeing End of Eva without seeing the entire TV series. Just think what their first impression of Shinji would be! Also it will not stop the sterotype of post apocoliptic ideas in Anime (Akira, X, to a lesser extent Mononoke ext) that apear in America.

Well, latest buz says a theatrical release is doubtful... but it still looks good for a home video release sometime this year.

Just in case anyone is interested, Acording to The Right Stuf it seems that this film will be released on 31 October of this year, on dubbed VHS, subtitled VHS, and DVD.

Seems that Manga Entertainment has decided to rename the film The Evangelion Movie for it's U.S. release, which is just plain silly in my opinion. It's already well known by the fans as End of Evangelion, and so the fans loose a bit of name recognition with the change. Of course, Manga may be trying to get people not familiar with Eva to take a look at the film (after all, why would anyone new to the series start with something called, "End of"?) but this would be a grave error as anyone wishing to enjoy End of Evangelion without having seen all that came before will be completely lost.

End of rant over name change. Have a nice day.

Just out of interest, I thought I'd mention that while they are still coming, the movies have been pushed back some. The VHS versions are coming sometime in January or February of 2002, and the DVD versions a few months afterwards, if I recall correctly.
