Best / Worst Chatracters

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Neon Genesis Evangelion: Genesis 0:KitchenSink: Best / Worst Chatracters
Which characters do you like the best, and you worship the cels they're drwan on? And which characters do you wish Shinji would step on with Unit 01?
By annelies mariano on Tuesday, November 16, 1999 - 9:10 am:

Just wanted to say I adore Shinji because he's such a loser.

Losers of the world unite!

By A. Sinclaire on Saturday, January 08, 2000 - 11:32 am:

Shinji's cool.

I like teh angel pilot the best. He was great. too bad he was around only one episode.

By Mark Morgan on Saturday, January 08, 2000 - 11:54 am:

Humans, bah. My vote is for the cool, collected penguin.

All the characters all well thought out and well developed (at least through episode three, which is where I'm at). Something the Pokemon people might think about doing before the backlash hits.

By bioforce on Saturday, January 15, 2000 - 12:16 am:

Well I know the hottest character is definely Asuka, I use her for my shutdown screen in Windows (in a sundress standing over the NERV logo)

As for an overall favorite, I think they are all very well htought out and well made characters. They each have strengths and weaknesses and we get to see down into there inner core.

By A. Sinclaire on Saturday, January 15, 2000 - 2:14 pm:

No dissing Pokemon, pwease? If you've seen it you know it is well thouht out, the stuff in the movie was happening around episodes way before it was released or anything, they had a whole mythology worked out. Anythign you diss about Pokemon I have the proof to fight back.:)

And I love all the characters too.I'm writing an Eva fanfic and it's fun to write them all grown up.... The pengiun *is* cool. He's raelly funny.

I hope they make an Eva sequel.

By Matt Atanian on Thursday, January 20, 2000 - 3:14 pm:

If you've ever seen End of Eva, you'd know that a sequel is probably not possible... And although officially I can't condone anything that might cause anything bitter to happen on this message board (the toils of being moderator...), off the record I'd like to say Pokemon no baka!

You know, I met Tiffany Grant (the dub actress for Auska) briefly once, and she called me baka. I was so happy! ^_^

By Mark Morgan on Thursday, January 20, 2000 - 6:22 pm:

Is End of Eva available in the United States? I'd be more than slightly interested in seeing it.

I shall reserve my comments on "Gotta Catch 'Em All" for that mythical time after the Third Strike when the Pokémon board is open.

By A. Sinclaire on Friday, January 21, 2000 - 8:38 am:

I'm commenting on the rest later, but the Pokemon board will be up soon. As soon as co-moderator logs in her comp I'm gonna say-we have to work on the board now.

By Matt Atanian on Monday, January 31, 2000 - 6:00 pm:

End of Eva is not officially available yet in the U.S., but if you really want to hunt one down there's plenty of Fansubs available...

However, I would suggest against a fansub, as I think they're only okay when something hasn't been licensed, and the Eva films have been picked up by Manga Entertainment for domestic release. From what I understand, we can expect to see them sometime this year or next. (There's even a possibility of a theatrical release.)

By Matthew Patterson (Mpatterson) on Monday, January 31, 2000 - 9:22 pm:

Well, actually, I'd recommend getting the fansub while you can. Then maybe later, get the commercial release, and compare them.

Fansubs are technically illegal no matter what, but that obviously doesn't stop people from doing them. The "unwritten subber's code of ethics" says that it's okay to distribute a fansub up until the point that it is commercially released, not at the point that the licensing deal is cut. After all, it can take a while for the things to get dubbed or subbed, and some companies get the license for all of a series but don't release part of it. (Ex. DiC has the rights to all 200 episodes of Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon and the three movies, but only dubbed the first 89 episodes, gave Pioneer the movie rights, and is sitting on the episode rights until 2002. Thus, fansubs of episodes 90-200 are freely available, because they aren't commercially available.)

Theatrical release? Sugoi!

By SomeDude on Monday, July 03, 2000 - 5:09 am:

Asuka's The Hottest, Yes... And Rei Is Also Hot... I Know A Girl That Reminds Me Of Asuka, The Same Attitude, Same Hair Color, Same Figure... Man Can She Melt My Heart, And Hit Too... She's The One That Got Me Hooked On Anime... That's Why I Choose Asuka As My Favorite Character... ^_^ All She Needs Is A Sundress, The Plug Suit And Them Things In Asuka's Hair To Make her Look Like Asuka... Maybe For Halloween... ^_^

Theatrical Release?? Has Eva Ever Been Shown On TV? Does It Show On Channels Like On Cartoon Network or Sci-Fi? I Mean The Eps...

By Scott McClenny on Thursday, November 17, 2005 - 6:16 pm:

Re:SomeDude's Mon Jul 03, 2000 comment
Neon Genesis Evanglion was shown on the U.K version of the Sci-Fi Channel, a couple of years ago (During their late night animation slot on Thursdays)...
