Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Enterprise: Season Three: E2

By Merat on Thursday, April 22, 2004 - 5:35 am:

From the blurb at startrek.com, this sounds suspiciously like Time Squared. Incidently, the title of this episode should be read as "E Squared", but I don't think this forum can handle the exponential symbol. E^2

E2

No, don't forget... They're in the Expanse!

I realize that a synopsis is already posted and it sounds like that DS9 episode (Time's Children, or something like that), but when I first heard about it part of me hoped it was a mirror universe story. It'd be nice to see the Empire beginnings from that Universe. T'Pol could be a bitchy lesbian, Archer a tyrant, Tucker his butt-boy, and Mayweather killing everyone he can so he can have their lines.

Would Hoshi be deaf and Porthos be a cat?

By KAM on Monday, April 26, 2004 - 1:31 am:

I imagine that alt-Porthos would be an attack dog or wolf.

alt-Phlox would be a jolly fellow, but it's because he can perform unethical experiments on captured aliens & disobedient crewmen (well, those that weren't fed to Porthos.)

alt-Hoshi... I think some cybernetic implants so she can hack into alien computer systems and learn what she can about them.

Dawn, when DC Comics had the right to produce a Star Trek comic in the mid '80s they had a sequel to Mirror, Mirror & IIRC they stated that Earth lost the Earth/Romulan war & fighting back against the Romulan conquerors led them to be the bloodthirsty lot they are. Non-canonical, I know, but it's the only source I know that tries to tell a beginning of the Empire type story.

By ScottN on Monday, April 26, 2004 - 9:22 am:

There are a couple of other non-canon sources that give the rationale behind the Empire as well.

Shatner/J&GRS: Specter/DarkVictory/Preserver - Humans & Vulcans get medieval due to the need to defend against the Borg. Precipitated by the events of Star Trek: First Contact.

James Dixon's Star Trek Timeline (http://kevin.atkinson.dhs.org/timeline/ -- currently not working properly) gives the origin of the Empire as Khan's victory in the Eugenics Wars.

By Taoiseach on Monday, April 26, 2004 - 3:06 pm:

We know we saw in the previews run at the end of "Damage" that there are two NX-01s in one shot, so I think we can assume that there are alternate realities involved.

I think it would be great continuity (I'm such a C.W.) if we find out that the events of this past season have led inevitably to the first days of the Terran Empire, and this episode resolves how the two timelines (multiverses?) diverged. And Season 4 (should there be one) follows the canonical multiverse we know, and we can forget Season 3 as a bad dream...

By Polls Voice on Monday, April 26, 2004 - 4:16 pm:

I wanna forget season 2 as well...

When I went to www.startrek.com, it had the picture of someone named Lorian commanding Enterprise in E^2. The funny part was that I thought I was looking at a picture of G.W. Bush.:)
But only for a sec. He has some similarities with the Prez.

By Merat on Friday, April 30, 2004 - 10:11 am:

Oh my.... A pointy eared person named Lorian. :)

By ScottN on Friday, April 30, 2004 - 10:25 am:

Man the preview really spoiled (assuming that we violate PAL just this once).

By ScottN, who couldnt resist on Friday, April 30, 2004 - 10:25 am:

A pointy eared person named Lorian

And his twin brother, a pointy eared person named "Dataian". :)

By Merat on Friday, April 30, 2004 - 5:09 pm:

I was thinking more along the lines of the elf forest of Lorien in Lord of the Rings.
