One of my favorite episodes. Did anyone else notice the similarity between Captain Capacitor & Mr. Christopher and the pirate captain (sorry I don't remember his name) & Mr. Fibulee (spelling?) of the Dr. Who story "The Pirate Planet"? I know the title of this episode comes from the movie "The Crimson Pirate", but do these two characters also come from it. I haven't seen the movie so I'm wondering.
The pirates are simply so much more fun to have as adversaries than MB or Hex.
Once Bob realizes he doesn't have Glitch he uses one of those file-locking shortswords to attack the pirates. We never see how he obtains this weapon. Presumably he stole it from a pirate; best way to find one on such short notice.
Cap'n's little speech to Frisket is priceless.
I loved the warp nacelles on the ships Also, is this the first time we see how Mainframe is supported? By an upswelling of the ocean (sorry, I'm pretty new to the series, and don't know what that stuff is called.)
I also enjoyed the interplay between one of the rich guy's lady friends and a soldier in the background when Dot commandeers the ship. First the soldier lifts his faceplate and his eye pops out and he says something too her. Her response is to lower the faceplate. He then gives her a heart-shaped box of (presumably) chocolates, and she looks away. He then touches her arm and she slaps him. We then hear a *thump* while Phong is talking and, when it cuts back, the soldier is lying on the ground. Its background things like this that helps to make ReBoot so great.
