Enzo the Smart

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: ReBoot: Season One: Enzo the Smart

Enzo alters the clockspeed of all Mainframe in an attempt to be smarter than Bob, but he ends up trapped in a Video Athletes game with "slow" versions of Bob and Dot. Enzo has to compete with four very athletic users to save the city, but his own team keeps getting in his way--especially in the final event, "the Eliminator."

My "nit-picks" are as numerically proceeds:
1) As the user's cannonball soars toward the tower fortress, four fleeing Binomes are clearly seen. However, only two Binomes are observed in the next scene and the amount of Binomes increases in each scene beyond this one.
2) Do you notice how Phong's vocal passwords, including yadda-yadda, which is uttered during this episode, are different with every passing episode?
3) What is that item behind Bob prior to Bob exclaiming, "Enzo!", and lunging toward Enzo Matrix?
4) Notice the Calvin Spline vid window outside Dot's Diner.
5) A hovercraft approaches Dot's Diner and appears as if it is going to crash. However, it seems to merely fly into the diner and vanish accordingly. The hovercraft may be seen in action behind Enzo Matrix at one point during this scene that occurs within the diner but after the deceleration of Mainframe's clock speed.
6) The Sprites and Binomes pursuing Enzo Matrix are not behind him at the last minute as the game descends, yet they are found in the game.
7) Is it my imagination or are those different Binomes in the game than those previously displayed?
8) What happened to Dot Matrix? One minute she is pushing the user away from the finish line; the next she is lying on the ground behind the user.
9) Enzo Matrix ripped the whistle and coach tag off himself much earlier near the conclusion. Astonishingly enough, both items inexplicably reappear after Enzo Matrix crosses the finish line.

How come none of the prominent characters--this being Bob and Dot Matrix--do not appear 3-bit after Enzo Matrix's meddling with Mainframe's clock speed? Even some Binomes were not 3-bit.

Bob became much more plan-worthy as of this episode (i.e., matching the cannon's launch coordinates with that of the user's explosives' location) and more so in further episodes. The description of Bob is that he possesses an extemporaneous behavior and attitude, always taking things as they come in a matter of speaking. The sudden, inexplicable change is in direct contradiction to this prior view of Bob.

Enzo Matrix ripped the whistle and coach tag off himself [much earlier] near the conclusion. = Enzo Matrix ripped the whistle and coach tag off himself near the conclusion. As you may or may not notice, I have omitted the words much earlier from this sentence because of its redundancy. I must have been lethargic as I was typing this particular "nit-pick."

D. Stuart, besides your use of unneccessarily oblique vernacular (a simplistic opinionation on my part) you also refer to the reduced graphics level as 3-bit. This would be a *very* unusual graphics level. Usually, graphics would be some derivitive of a power of two (16-bit, 24-bit, etc.). Also, Enzo says something like "Woah... Mainframe's gone 8-bit!"

No offense... just striving for nitpicking perfection. ;)

And he's brought his limited vocabulary with him.

What would the boards be like without him? (a better place for all)

Here!Here! I quite agree.

Mainframes's read-only room is meant to resemble the Thatcher Library from Citizen Kane.

This is the first episode that assumes the viewer is well familiar with the show. It starts already within a game. Playing pong with Phong and Enzo bowling over Bob are expected actions. Mike the T.V. is already known by this episode.

When Enzo ReBoots into the game by tapping his PID which is on his hat Bob is behind him, apparently scratching his rear end. As soon as Enzo reboots, Bob copies him, double tapping his forehead. When this doesn't work, he shakes his hand in the air a few times, then hits himself harder. He promptly falls down :)
