Season Five

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Sliders: Season Five

Moderator note To avoid any confusion : As of the episode "Applied Physics", the Quinn Mallory played by Robert Floyd will be known by the name "Mallory", while the original, Jerry O'Connell will be known as "Quinn" or "Quinn Mallory". Jerry and Charlie O'Connell did not appear this season... in the opening of "The Unstuck Man", they were played by stunt doubles, who were only shown from a back point of view. Whether they return remains to be seen...

Moderator note Along the lines of Babylon 5 information, in a recent online chat, David Peckinpah (spelling?) stated that they had thought about getting Andreas Katsulas to be the special guest star in the season finale, "The Seer", but Sci Fi declined so that the show did not get pegged as the place where former B5 actors ended up.
By Richie Vest on Saturday, November 14, 1998 - 6:27 am:

Let me honest IF Jerry O"Connel leaves it wont be Sliders anymore. They may call it Sliders but it is not.

By Aaron on Tuesday, November 17, 1998 - 6:26 am:

From what I've heard, the Season 4 finale will deal with some new cast members appearing, and Quinn 'morphing' into a new form or merging with someone else. As for the specifics of the O'Connell's exit from the show, everything from me will be speculation and rumor reports unless stated otherwise.

By ERPbridge on Tuesday, November 17, 1998 - 6:45 pm:

I saw a TV Guide a couple weeks ago where they had a chart linking various teen actors. Both Jerry and Charlie were on there, and it said "Formerly on Sliders". A little slip, perhaps?

By Phillip Culley on Tuesday, February 09, 1999 - 2:40 pm:

Aaron, I've seen the season 4 finale (Revelations), and it has absolutely no hints that either of the O'Connells are leaving; in fact it ends just like any episode would.

By Rene on Wednesday, March 03, 1999 - 8:12 am:

It's actually the fifth season premiere
that will deal with the two O'Connell brothers
leaving the show and two new cast
members.

By Scott Terry on Friday, March 12, 1999 - 4:35 am:

The fifth season of sliders starts here (AUSTRALIA) on Friday the 19th March 1999, at 7.30pm on Network Ten. Email me at sterry@bigpond.com if you would like to know what happens in each ep.

Jerold and Charlie O'Connell leaving the series? Perhaps, but then why has Jerold been producing the series for the last one or two seasons? If I were the creators/writers, I would consider having a Sliders movie in which all the censorship barriers are nonexistent and, as Prof. Maximillian P. Arturo would say, "The possibilities are endless." In fact, they could have Prof. Maximillian P. Arturo, who may or may not have been abandoned in that alternate dimension during his struggle with his slightly evil dimensional counterpart, return for the movie. The same applies to Wade Wells and Logan Sinclaire. And as far as I am concerned with the Kromaggs, the creators/writers are attempting to have a consistent enemy that no one wanted to begin with, at least in my opinion. Acquire better writers, release a movie, and have the series premiere on another station, then let us see to where this leads the series.
P.S. What occurred within the episode "Revelations?" Thank you.

Okay, by now we've all seen the new season, and yes, they did get rid of Quinn and Colin. And I am very disappointed. Mainly, of course, because Quinn was very cute. (I'm female, this is important to me.) But also because this leaves only Remmy as an original Slider. Too much change upsets me. (Must say, tho, they had a good story for the switch.)
I missed Sliders when it switched to cable, so could someone please tell me: What happened to Wade? What happened to the professor? Where did Colin come from? I thought Quinn was an only child. I'm trying to catch up on old Slider episodes, but it isn't always easy. I think I need a VCR just for shows like that.

By G. Hans on Friday, June 18, 1999 - 8:10 pm:

In the middle of Season 3(The Exodus, Parts One and Two), the Professor is shot by Colonel Rickman, a man who was infected in the Gulf War and needs human brain matter to live. This is when they meet Maggie Beckett. Throughout the rest of the season, they chase Rickman(who has a timer of his own) before killing him in the 3rd season finale. However, Maggie almost dies, and so Wade and Rembrandt go on ahead and then Maggie and Quinn follow.

In the 4th season opener, we find Rembrandt, who says he was seperated from Wade. Quinn finds out he has different parents than he thinks and that he has a brother, Colin. They eventually find him.

Okay, by now we've all seen the new season,

No me, in Ontario, Canada Global just recently started to show it again and just today showed revelations. Last october it stopped showing it without showing several episodes and showed them over the past few weeks.

But from what I have been hearing the show has really gone to heck. I get the idea that it isn't even worth watching season 5 at all.

By Zero on Friday, July 02, 1999 - 11:02 pm:

It isn't. The only person to stay from the original cast has been Rembrant. And even as much as I liked this show, it's simply degraded over the years. Remy is the only one who wants to get home now (The rest don't care) and he doesnt care anymore either.

By mei on Wednesday, July 07, 1999 - 11:43 am:

G Hans: Thanks for answering my questions. Now that I can finally get Sliders, I'm hoping it will get better. (Of course, a good start would be to get rid of the Kromags.) I'm also hoping to catch up on the old shows, to find out what the heck they're talking about on the new one: Wade in a breeding camp, and Remmy's mother, and Colin, etc., etc., etc. I got the Sci Fi Channel's Encyclopedia of SciFi TV Shows (over 250 shows!), but it only goes thru the first season. Bummer.
I really liked the show in the beginning. The stories weren't always the best, but the concept was, whatever nugget of what caused this different world. I agree, when they lost that, and went to remakes of (mostly bad) movies, it lost a lot. It also lost alot with the introduction of the Kromags. Don't like them, never will, get rid of them.
For all you Bab5 fans out there, start keeping count. We've now had two Bab5 alumns on this show. If you didn't recognize him (I might not have if I hadn't been warned), Geiger is played by Peter Jurasik, who played Londo. It's interesting, because the accent is almost, but not quite, the same. And, of course, Garibaldi on the war planet. (I can't remember the actor's name, shame on me.)

By Richie Vest on Saturday, July 10, 1999 - 9:17 pm:

His name is Jerry Doyle

Did you guys catch Kari Wuhrer on "happy Hour"? She looked HELLA fine. Check out her breasts, wow.

By D. Stuart on Tuesday, July 13, 1999 - 8:45 pm:

Someone please assure me that the creators/writers intend to present much better well-written episodes in the future. I was disappointed with what was discovered by the sliders and what solution was proposed and consequently executed. Furthermore, I was half-expecting that obvious Leonardo DiCaprio look-alike (i.e., the son of the head Keeper) to bellow, "I'm king of the world!", when he and the woman were sailing out into the ocean during the conclusion.

By D. Stuart on Tuesday, July 13, 1999 - 8:47 pm:

That is, in regard to the episode "The Great Work."

By Chris Booton (Cbooton) on Friday, July 16, 1999 - 10:08 pm:

Which episode is the one where they find Wade? It aired Gloal on Friday. And I have a couple of nits for it but don't want to spoil it for people who havent seen it.

By Rene on Saturday, July 17, 1999 - 2:57 pm:

"Requiem"

By Crying Man on Tuesday, July 20, 1999 - 2:04 pm:

Episode summary, please?

By ScottN on Thursday, October 07, 1999 - 9:51 am:

There is no Post butt on "Heavy Metal", so...

Did anyone else find Maggie's jumping into bed with the pirate captain a bit out of character?

By ScottN on Thursday, October 07, 1999 - 9:52 am:

should have been "Post button". sorry

By bdomingu on Tuesday, January 04, 2000 - 6:44 pm:

Wow...

At the Sci-fi site, it says that "The Seer" is the final Slider episode.

I'm going to assume that means series finale and not season finale. Too bad. That show still has so much potential.

But people really must not be watching it.

By Phillip Culley on Thursday, January 06, 2000 - 3:19 pm:

I have but one comment on "The Seer": What a ending. (In the UK, we got the final four episodes over the Christmas period)
