Season One

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: ReBoot: Season One

By Peter Stoller on Thursday, January 17, 2002 - 7:52 pm:

The episodes as listed above are somewhat out of order. For instance, Mike the T.V.'s appearances in "The Tiff" indicate that it comes after "Wizards, Warriors etc ..."

Was "Talent Night" the season ender? If so it should be last.

The first three are in correct order. The first season titles use clips from these three only.

The appearance and reference to Mouse suggest thet "The Crimson Binome" comes after "The Great Brain Robbery."

By Peter Stoller again... on Sunday, January 20, 2002 - 8:56 am:

"Identity Crisis" parts 1 & 2 are second season episodes.

Thanks, Peter. I'll have a look at it and rearrange what need be.

The following information was clipped from Joe Smith's unofficial ReBoot fan site. A page written by Gavin Blair, who should know! Regarding the production order of episodes:
Quote:

Season 1

01 Show number 9402 - The Tearing
02 Show number 9401 - Racing the clock
03 Show number 9403 - The Quick & the Fed
04 Show number 9405 - The Medusa Bug
05 Show number 9404 - The Tiff
06 Show number 9408 - In The Belly of the Beast
07 Show number 9414 - The Crimson Binome
08 Show number 9411 - Enzo the Smart
09 Show number 9410 - Wizards, Warriors & A Word From Our Sponsor
10 Show number 9406 - The Great Brain Robbery

(11-13 are Canadian 1st season shows, American 2nd season shows)

11 Show number 9416 - Talent Night
12 Show number 9415a - Identity Crisis Part One
13 Show number 9415b - Identity Crisis Part Two

Unquote.

Oddly enough, this doesn't clear up my questions regarding the correct order of episodes. The production numbers given are not sequential. Mike the TV's appearances in "The Tiff" and "Enzo the Smart" suggest they were produced AFTER the character was introduced in "Wizards, Warriors,..." and Mouse's introduction in "Great Brain Robbery" ought to have occured before she was mentioned but not seen in "Crimson Binome."

Following the production numbers still puts "Wizards" after "Tiff" by five episodes.

There are no listings for productions numbered 9407, 9409, 9412 0r 9413. Either these were Mainframe Inc. productions of something other than ReBoot episodes (promotional spots possibly, I recall seeing some short animated spots of ReBoot leading into the show on ABC way back when, and they weren't simply clips from regular episodes), or they were scripts for episodes OK'd but never produced.

In any case it seems clear that "Wizards" was WRITTEN before "Tiff" and "Smart".

By Peter Stoller on Monday, February 11, 2002 - 10:30 pm:

One of the promotional spots mentioned above was aired on ABC as a lead-in to "Enzo the Smart". It could represent the unlisted production numbered 9407 or 9409.
The 30-second spot went exactly like this:

FADE IN:

1 INTERIOR SILICON TOR

Close angle on Megabyte in his control chair.

MEGABYTE
My takeover of Mainframe is complete.

2 LONG AERIAL VIEW OF MAINFRAME

The entire city appears stone grey, Infected by the Medusa, except Getty Prime Sector, which appears unaffected.

MEGABYTE
The Medusa virus has off-lined the entire city.

3 MEDIUM ANGLE ON INFECTED PRINCIPAL OFFICE WITH UNINFECTED G-PRIME BEYOND

4 INT. SILICON TOR

Medium view of Megabyte in his control chair. A large VidWindow is beside him displaying the interior of the infected Principal Office and a three-shot of the infected Dot, Enzo and Phong. Megabyte swivels his chair to face our p.o.v.

MEGABYTE
(continuing)
Why even Bob knows that I’ve won. Why else would he have run away?

On the VidWindow, a portal forms inside the Principal Office, which quickly dissolves to reveal Bob.

BOB
Me? Run away?

In response to Bob’s voice, Megabyte turns toward the VidWindow.

5 INT. PRINCIPAL OFFICE

Close angle on Bob facing our p.o.v.

BOB
(continuing)
I don’t think so.

Rapidly pull back to full view of Bob, Dot, Enzo and Phong.

BOB
(to Glitch)
Glitch, Triese effect.

Glitch emits a rapidly expanding sphere of golden energy that disinfects the Principal Office and Dot, Enzo and Phong.

6 LONG AERIAL VIEW OF MAINFRAME

The sphere grows to encompass and disinfect the entire city, expanding beyond the sea and out of sight.

7 INT. PRINCIPAL OFFICE

Reverse angle from before. Medium view of Bob, Dot, Enzo and Phong standing before a large VidWindow displaying the interior of Silicon Tor and a medium view of Megabyte in his chair.

MEGABYTE
(frustrated)
NOO!

Megabyte touches a button on his control chair and the VidWindow closes.

BOB
(to the others)
Sorry I took so long.

Bob, Dot Enzo and Phong face our p.o.v.

BOB
Um, everything’s all right. You can start the main title now. Finally.

FADE OUT.

Peter, I thought that Bob mentioning Mouse was a way of introducing her character so it wouldn't be so abrupt in The Great Brain Robbery.
