"The Catwalk" should be placed on this main board instead of a subheading under "Precious Cargo".

Spoiler: "Crash Landing" - The return of the Tholians!

By Merat on Wednesday, December 18, 2002 - 7:03 pm:

Tentitvely to air Feb 19th.

By Brian Webber on Wednesday, December 18, 2002 - 9:16 pm:

Merat: It's about ••••••• time!

By ScottN on Thursday, December 19, 2002 - 12:16 am:

Again, a continuity nit. The Tholian Web(TOS) implies that we haven't met the Tholians before.

By John A. Lang on Thursday, December 19, 2002 - 2:42 am:

ScottN- Maybe a nit, maybe not. If the Federation never met the Tholians before, then how did Spock know about "the reknowned Tholian punctuality"?

By Merat on Thursday, December 19, 2002 - 5:59 am:

I thought that episode just established the first time we had seen the Tholian web?

By ScottN on Thursday, December 19, 2002 - 9:44 am:

Well, in TTW, we didn't know anything about the Tholian Empire(?), including it's borders, etc...

By Sparrow47 on Thursday, December 19, 2002 - 12:52 pm:

No, I think they had known about the Tholians for a while, but the web was new. If the Tholians in the upcoming show use the web, then it's a nit (until the Temporal Cold War wipes everything out. What? You know it's gonna happen...)

By Brian Webber on Thursday, December 19, 2002 - 5:54 pm:

Scot: We had that discussion about the Tholians before, and most of the Guild reached the conclusion that the Tholians HAD ben encountered before and NOTHIGN in The Tholian Web suggested they hadn't.

By ScottN on Thursday, December 19, 2002 - 8:06 pm:

It's a good thing that Brian wasn't talking to me :)

Just who is "Scot," anyway?

By Charles Cabe (Ccabe) on Friday, December 20, 2002 - 9:14 am:

Spock mentions the Tholians "legendary punctuality". It seems to imply Terrans have met the Tholians. Given the fact that it is unlikely Spock would repeat idle gossip as fact, it implies he has had a few first hand encounters with the Tholians.

By ScottN on Friday, December 20, 2002 - 9:17 am:

I always thought Spock was being sarcastic with that line.

By ScottN on Friday, January 31, 2003 - 11:35 am:

There's an episode called "Judgement" coming up with J.G. Hertzler as a Klingon.

By Blue Berry on Friday, January 31, 2003 - 4:19 pm:

ScottN,

Sarcasm, or saying what you know to be erroneous, is not logical.:) (Yeah I know /sarcasm{neither was Spock.}:))

By Darth Sarcasm on Friday, January 31, 2003 - 6:49 pm:

I dunno... telling a falsehood is logical at times. Didn't erroneously telling the Eminiar guard that he had something crawling on his shoulder distract the guard enough for Spock to nerve pinch him? Didn't lying to the Andorians about their monastery in The Andorian Incident help the Vulcans keep an eye on them? Sounds logical to me.

BTW, the \sarcasm{} bit was funny. :)

By Blue Berry on Saturday, February 01, 2003 - 6:05 am:

Spock did not lie. He merely distracted the guard by offering altering his view of reality.:)

The Vulcans at the monastery did not lie. There was no observation post in the monastery.:)

Bill Clinton never lied. He was referencing some other woman he had not met yet as "that woman".:)

By Sparrow47 on Tuesday, February 18, 2003 - 3:27 pm:

So, apropos of nothing, does anyone know what happened to Tim Lynch's site? I haven't been able to load it for a few weeks...

By LUIGI NOVI on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 - 1:12 am:

It's not just Tim Lynch's pages, it's all of PsiPhi. The New Frontier section hasn't been up either.

By Joseph Pintar on Thursday, February 27, 2003 - 1:04 pm:

How many episodes about penal colonies are we going to put with? I was looking forward to watching Enterprise at 10pm because of a Syracuse basketball game was running at 8pm. That allowed to watch Ed and see what The Lone Ranger was all about. Then I watched two great Twilight Zone episodes. Well, imagine my disappointment in which they have another episode in which Archer is accused of being a criminal and sent to a penal colony. It's only their second season and they are already repeating themselves. No wonder many people in the media are proclaming the death of Star Trek. Another episode like this and it will be dead

By LUIGI NOVI on Sunday, March 02, 2003 - 1:20 am:

Future episodes following The Crossing include:

Judgement
Horizon
Crash Landing
The Breach
Regeneration
Cogenitor and
First Flight

By LUIGI NOVI on Sunday, March 02, 2003 - 1:22 am:

Possible basic premise spoiler:

First Flight, the series' 50th episode, will look back at the birth of the Enterprise.

By Phillip Culley (Pculley) on Thursday, March 06, 2003 - 11:34 am:

Luigi, I thought 'Crash Landing' was the working title for 'Future Tense' (changed at the last second). Plus, (not that it makes a difference) I think 'Regeneration' is to come after 'Cogenitor'.

By LUIGI NOVI on Thursday, March 06, 2003 - 9:51 pm:

I was not aware of that.

By Sparrow47 on Thursday, March 06, 2003 - 10:05 pm:

Yowza- PsiPhi is still down. Wonder if they experienced an event akin to the Great Discus Crash.

By Phillip Culley (Pculley) on Thursday, March 06, 2003 - 10:18 pm:

I've just checked Trek Today - in the section for 'Future Tense' it mentions the name change.

By LUIGI NOVI on Friday, March 07, 2003 - 7:58 am:

I see. I wonder why it was first called "Crash Landing"?

By Sparrow47 on Friday, March 07, 2003 - 8:01 am:

Possibly because earlier drafts had them discovering the pod on a planet somewhere?

By Mike M on Saturday, March 15, 2003 - 12:37 pm:

SPOILER
taken from www.startrek.com

--Remember in "Star Trek: First Contact," Captain Picard's crew followed a small Borg sphere through time and blew it to bits over 21st-century Earth. Well, what happened to all that debris? That's the premise behind "Regeneration." In the story, written by Mike Sussman & Phyllis Strong, an arctic research team in 2152 discovers fragments of an alien ship buried in the glacial terrain, along with the frozen corpses of two cybernetically enhanced humanoids.--

Series is the British term for season, correct?

By LUIGI NOVI on Sunday, March 23, 2003 - 12:22 pm:

True, but I'm hardly British. :) I meant to say "season." I wish Nitcentral had an "edit" feature like the Internet Movie Database's message boards do.

By Sparrow47 on Sunday, March 23, 2003 - 3:03 pm:

Just keepin' ya honest, Luigi!

By Merat on Sunday, March 23, 2003 - 9:03 pm:

Jeez, Luigi, I give you an out and you toss it away! :)

By LUIGI NOVI on Sunday, March 23, 2003 - 10:02 pm:

Thank you, Sparrow. Funny how you and the Grammar Police are never around in the same place as the same time... :)

New Jersey. The tea and crumpet state.
Thanks, but it would be disengenuous to argue that I was using the British term for "season" when I was born and raised in New Jersey. :)

By TomM, another born and bred Jerseyan on Monday, March 24, 2003 - 12:04 am:

Why would it be disingenuous? I use Britishisms all the time. I've even been known to say "Shed-ule" and "Alumin-ium" on occassion.

By kerriem on Monday, March 24, 2003 - 10:53 am:

Yeah...I have a friend in Portland (OR) who's a total devotee of all things British.
I talk my usual mix of this side of the Atlantic/that side of the Atlantic/add an 'eh' on the end, and she understands me perfectly. :)

By LUIGI NOVI on Monday, March 24, 2003 - 12:59 pm:

Well, personally, I'm not an Anglophile, and there wouldn't be any reason to say "series" when I meant "season." :)

By Sparrow47 on Monday, March 24, 2003 - 2:39 pm:

Why, Luigi, you're not trying to imply that I'm the Grammar Police, are you? I don't know what you're talking about!

Now, we really need to talk about your dangling participles... :)

By Ian on Tuesday, March 25, 2003 - 12:57 pm:

SERIES/SEASON

THE SERIES WILL RETURN IN 'BLANK', CUSTOMARY BBC/ITV VOICEOVER.

HASTA LA VISTA

By Sparrow47 on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 - 10:03 am:

What?

By Ian on Sunday, March 30, 2003 - 4:04 pm:

Dear Sparrow47

Brit TV refers to series not season when the last episode airs in the current run. My poor Spanish refers to the complete lack of info when the the next videos will hit the UK market, ie may the day hurry up. Have I unconfused you now ?

By Butch Brookshier on Thursday, April 03, 2003 - 8:17 pm:

Richie, there's no "Add a Message" form on "The Breach"

By Phillip Culley (Pculley) on Saturday, April 05, 2003 - 5:34 pm:

Ian - it sounds like you'll be in for a long long wait! From what I've heard they're not bothering to release S2 on VHS, instead all you'll be able to get are get the DVDs (when or if they bother to release them! :))

By Ian on Tuesday, April 08, 2003 - 1:28 pm:

Dear Philip

Thanks for the info. If they DVD season 2, this fan will be well and truly miffed, as I dont have a DVD player. What a palaver!!!

By Phillip Culley (Pculley) on Tuesday, April 08, 2003 - 4:05 pm:

Well, if it's any consolation, I doubt you'll see the DVDs until 2005 (with DS9 in 2003, and presumably VOY in 2004, and TOS in 2005, with possible ENT following on)!

The sad thing is that I beleive they intended to release a DVD set of sesaon 1 last Christmas, and in the end they decided not to :(

By Ian on Wednesday, April 09, 2003 - 1:20 pm:

Dear Philip

Killing the goose which laid the golden egg springs to mind.

By D.W. March on Tuesday, April 22, 2003 - 11:47 pm:

No, The Breach is The Breach... but there's no way to post to the episode board yet.

(In case anyone is wondering how I know this a day in advance, Enterprise (and Buffy and Angel) episodes are generally available online a day or so before they air, if you know where to look.

By John A. Lang on Saturday, May 03, 2003 - 11:28 am:

RE: Phillip Culley...TOS is already out on DVD. Don't you mean TAS?

By Phillip Culley (Pculley) on Saturday, May 03, 2003 - 8:55 pm:

No - I mean TOS - where I'm concerned (and where Ian is concerned), we're in the UK, and we ain't got not TOS DVD's here! :)

Although we do have the entire DS9 and VOY catalogue available on video in the UK, which is a better state of affairs than in the US (or so I've been lead to believe :)

By John A. Lang on Sunday, May 04, 2003 - 6:06 am:

Whoa. Now THAT'S strange! From what I've seen, there's DVD stuff available in the UK that's not available in the US! Like certain Dr. Who eps, etc.

By Phillip Culley (Pculley) on Sunday, May 04, 2003 - 5:47 pm:

That cause Dr Who is British so we deserve it first (although you did get the Key to Time - but I think I'd rather have my Talons and Seeds of Death :))

Although the flip side is also true - there are several British series that have had R1 releases but have yet to see R2 releases (Rex the Runt comes to mind :))

By markvthomas on Sunday, May 04, 2003 - 10:44 pm:

Or even the "Key to Time" (Season 16) Box set for Dr.Who ?
It's currently out on Region 1 DVD in the U.S, ? for Region 2 & 4 (U.K/Australia) 2005-6, ?
(But all discs, twin disc sets ?).
Availble on import for approx 120-140 pounds ($180-200)from your friendly importer !

By Sparrow47 on Monday, May 05, 2003 - 6:32 am:

In a completely unrelated note, I would like to pause for a moment to curse the Powers That Be. Why? For scheduling two new "Enterprise" episodes the night before my only actual final! Grrrrrrrr...

By Anonymous on Monday, May 05, 2003 - 1:28 pm:

2 words: tape them. If you don't have a VCR, ask a friend or family member to tape them for you.

Either that or take a 2 hour study break while their on or study durring the comericals etc.

By Phillip Culley (Pculley) on Monday, May 05, 2003 - 5:27 pm:

I'd hope that that Key to Time set doesn't get a release in R2 (which I know isn't happening any soon - it was a special requested box set for release in R1) - if anything as I know it's a very poor set in comparson to the other releases! (in fact, this is what stopped me picking it up before - I'd rather wait for extras like the other disks :))

And £120 is a horrible price to pay - it only cost me £65 when I picked up a copy for a friend!

By Ian on Friday, May 09, 2003 - 2:45 pm:

Dear All

Waiting, waiting and yet more waiting for Enterprise to pop up anywhere, VHS, DVD or plain old TV.I am haunting video stores like the Marley's ghost. Whats keeping our US brethren from stumping up with the goods? Has season 3 swung into view yet?

Answers, hints, clues or shots in the dark welcome!!

Cheers

Ian

By Sparrow47 on Monday, May 12, 2003 - 9:58 pm:

Anyone have an update on PsiPhi? Did it get moved? Going there brings up a message about it being removed or suspended...

And Ian, no, we're still in Season 2, broadcast-wise, although the season's coming to a close in a couple weeks.

By LUIGI NOVI on Tuesday, May 13, 2003 - 11:29 am:

PsiPhi is up now at a temporary location here, Sparrow. Tim Lynch's reviews are up for Stigma through Horizon. Enjoy.

By Ian on Tuesday, May 13, 2003 - 4:01 pm:

Dear Sparrow47

Thanks for the info. Has Season 3 been greenlighted yet?

By Sparrow47 on Tuesday, May 13, 2003 - 6:07 pm:

Yes, there will be a Season 3. Beyond that... well, who can say?

And thanks, Luigi!

By LUIGI NOVI on Tuesday, May 13, 2003 - 6:58 pm:

Any time, buddy.

By Ian on Thursday, May 15, 2003 - 2:59 pm:

Dear Sparrow47

Is Enterprise still going out in a fixed time slot or is it moved around? Are the Neilsens? high or not?

By Sparrow47 on Thursday, June 19, 2003 - 2:24 pm:

Oops- sorry for not getting around to answering you earlier, Ian. Currently, Enterprise is still glued into its time slot. I don't think UPN has any plans to shift it around- at least, not that I've heard. Meanwhile, the Neilsen ratings for the show are generally poor, although I'm sure it's still one of UPN's bigger draws.

By Ian on Thursday, June 26, 2003 - 2:22 pm:

Thanks Sparrow47, I thought everyone had disappeared into a Black Hole.

Still no sign of the second season on UK TV, except the vague promise of Nemesis on video in August.

By Sparrow47 on Thursday, June 26, 2003 - 4:50 pm:

Hmmm... second season of Enterprise, or Nemesis? Tough call there. :O

By Ian on Friday, June 27, 2003 - 11:15 am:

Dear Sparrow47

A parched men in a desert will seek any source of nourishmenr he can find, even if it is Nemesis.

By Phillip Culley (Pculley) on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 - 4:45 pm:

Ian - from what I've heard, September sounds likely to be the broadcast date for Season 2 on Channel 4 :)

By Ian on Saturday, July 19, 2003 - 4:58 pm:

Dear Philip

Sorry not to have caught your message earlier. I will have to scour the listings and hope it is not put out at some insane hour like Babylon 5 was and West Wing is.

Thanks

Well, if he wins said election, at least Terminator 4 is "Stillborn"
(This from a Cameron "Purist").
Mind you, to paraphrase Dead Ringers, (A U.K parody show), the next Terminator movie might be subtitled "The Quest For A Old Cyborg's Home !". Either that or Kindergarten Cop 14 !

By LUIGI NOVI on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 - 12:52 am:

Um, what does this have to do with Enterprise?

By Ian on Thursday, August 14, 2003 - 12:46 pm:

Dear Luigi

Re foregoing posts, it is now what is called the 'Silly Season' in UK, ie height of the summer holidays, when hard news stories are thin, so comments about Arnie are meant to pass the time away, as STILL no sign of season 2 in UK.

Also Onto the breeech is from Carmel, which is California, I think- hence my stunning display of political satire.

Ian

By ScottN on Thursday, August 14, 2003 - 4:09 pm:

Yeah, but who's tougher, Ahh-nuld, or Clint the Squint, former mayor of Carmel?

By Darth Sarcasm on Thursday, August 14, 2003 - 7:33 pm:

Um, what does this have to do with Enterprise? - Luigi

Follow along, please...

Arnold could very likely become governor of California, taking us one step closer to (though there are still some constitutional issues to change) the Arnold Schwartzenegger Presidential Library as foretold in Demolition Man, which featured Sandra Bullock, who appeared in Speed with Dennis Hopper, who was in Blue Velvet, which was directed by David Lynch, who also directed Dune, which also featured Patrick Stewart, who played Captain Ahab in a television adaptation of Moby Dick, a role played in the motion picture version by Gregory Peck, who starred in To Kill a Mockingbird with Brock Peters, who was in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home with Catherine Hicks, who stars in 7th Heaven on the WB with Stephen Collins, who played Decker in Star Trek: The Motion Picture, which was directed by Robert Wise, who also directed The Day the Earth Stood Still, which was once mentioned as one of the films shown on "movie night" on Enterprise.

It's really quite simple, really.

Incidentally, Brock Peters also connects you to Christopher Plummer (in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country), who starred in The Sound of Music, which was also directed by Robert Wise.

And Patrick Stewart played the villain in Masterminds, which was written by Chris Black, who currently writes on Enterprise.

So, you see? Ah-nold has lots to do with Enterprise. :)

By TJFleming on Friday, August 15, 2003 - 5:54 am:

And of course Ah-nuhld made a "Quantum Leap" (get it?) from Mr. Europe to Mr. Universe, bypassing the Mr. Sector 001, Mr. Alpha Quadrant, and Mr. Milky Way Galaxy titles.

By Darth Sarcasm on Friday, August 15, 2003 - 9:09 am:

And of course, we mustn't forget that Arnold is married to Maria Shriver, niece of John F. Kennedy, who was the brother of Robert Kennedy, who in Thirteen Days was played by Stephen Culp, who (by some reports) plays Major Hayes in the new season of Enterprise.

(Culp can also be connected to Patrick Stewart via his deleted scene in Nemesis.)

Arnold will also be running against Hollywood attraction, Angelyne, whose billboard was one of the first things destroyed in Volcano, which starred Tommy Lee Jones, who in JFK played a character accused of conspiring to assassinate Kennedy, who we already saw is connected to Enterprise.

Arnold also played Mister Freeze in the follow-up to Batman Forever, in which Two-Face was played by Tommy Lee Jones.

And let's not forget the classic Quantum Leap episode in which Sam Beckett (played by Scott Bakula) tries to stop Kennedy's assassination.

So the real question, Luigi, is what doesn't Arnold have to do with Enterprise. :)

You boys have been studying way to hard, is the world ready for the Six Degrees of Arnie S?
