Ninja Assassin:
Released in 2009, Ninja Assassin is from a screenplay co-written by Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski.
This movie is about said ninja assassin who has become disillusioned and seek revenge on his former mentor.
This made look intriguing to present on paper but I couldn't feel it whilst watching this movie and feels very unsatisfactorily with what was delivered.
I take it that you didn't like it, Matthew.
No not really.
Never got into those movies myself.
Argylle:
Released in 2024, Argylle stars Bryce Dallas Howard who plays Elly Conway, a spy novelist in which her books centres around her fictional spy Aubrey Argylle played in fantasy sequences by Henry Cavill.
At first it seems Elly writing her books seems harmless to her until her life has come into danger and that is because her books mirrors what is going on in the real world and she has no idea why.
Fortuitously she gets protected by a real spy Aidan Wydle (Sam Rockwell) who just happens to be in her presence.
Overall there is nothing wrong with the premise. I however am not sure I am fully satisfied with the end results in particular with Rockwell who I did not find convincing as a spy.
This plus the fact that the ending is confusing.
Incidentally the mid-credit scenes revealed that it is connected with the Kingsman movies.
This was a box office dud.
No doubt puts the kibosh on any sequels.
I heard the advertising was a little misleading, too, since it made you think that Henry Cavil was in more of the movie, when in fact he's only got a small role.
I can see why the audience got mad.
